Just a quick update on my son's scope. He does have LPR, and had severely irritated nasal membranes, vocal cords, etc... The ENT said that he does have reflux and needs to be on medication. He has put him on a liquid form of Prevacid, which my son hates!! He will often refuse to take it, even if we disguise it by putting it in yogurt. He tastes it in there and spits it out. We even had this flavored like grape and he still doesn't like it. He will take Tylenol...loves the stuff....but won't take this at all. He is still not sleeping, but I would imagine it will take a while for this to work. He also took out his adenoids as they were very inflammed and irritated and could have been contributing to his sleeping issues. He is getting better from surgery, and at least we have an answer now. At least I know I am not imaging this, he is refluxing and we are on the road to recovery....at least I hope so. I am going to keep checking out websites....thanks Minnie!! Take care everyone and have a great day.

Oh that's good news (In a weird "now you have some answers" kinda way)!!!
It's so nice to have your paranoid thoughts and feelings finally validated, isn't it?
I hope you figure out a way to get the meds in there and they start helping soon. (((BIG HUG)))

Eric goes in to get his tonsils and adenoids yanked tomorrow!!!!
EEEEEEEE! I can't wait to see what kinds of differences there are in his eating, sleeping, breathing, etc.

Keep me updated on your little one, and let me know as soon as you see some positive changes.

I'm sorry to hear he has reflux...but I hope once the meds kick in, you see a HUGE difference...hopefully he will be eating/sleeping better in NO time!

Can you ask your doctor to prescribe Prevacid solutab instead??/ I can see my son (he is 4) loving the stuff. It's strawberry flavored and dissolves immediately in the mouth. You can have him chase it down with a bit of water. My 10 month old gets excited when she sees it coming.

Same thing here...Josh loves his Prevacid Solutab...he'll take and mmmm the whole time. You can start them on it young too...Josh started on it at 2mths of age.

I am sorry about the reflux, but at least you know what you are dealing with. I hope it will get easier to get the meds into him. My son is on the solutabs and he takes them very well. Maybe your dr would let you try those.

Please keep us updated on how he is doing as he recovers from the surgery and the meds start to kick in. I hope he will be much better.

Minnie,

How did Eric's surgery go???????? I hope he is doing ok. My little Eric is just finally returning back to normal. However, he won't take his meds. I am going to post another thread on this, but just wanted to see how you guys were doing! Take care.

Eric isn't eating anymore, but he's drinking fine. He's VERY grumpy and getting on my last nerve now! LOL OMG! and the meds are just not going over at all. I stopped giving him the codeine and only have
4 days left of the antibiotic. Then things will go a little smoother around here.
I have had a taste of things to come and I'm very excited. Everything we are going through right now is SO WAY worth it, if he goes back to the way he was doing the first 2 days after surgery I will be the happiest woman alive! (and I KNOW it will be even better! :) )
He's on a soft diet for 2 weeks and then goes to see the ENT to figure out if he's healed enough to go to a normal diet. Right now he doesn't care anyway, but I have a feeling that in a few days he will be asking for some real food and it will be so hard not to give it to him.

I know what you mean about grumpy.....my Eric was beyond grumpy for the whole first week after his adenoids were out. I was super hyperparanoid as well because he was really struggling to breath at night (which apparently is normal). We put him on Motrin to help with the inflammation, and this made a huge difference. He didn't have his tonsils out so he is not refusing to eat, but sleep on the other hand has not gotten any better. His adenoids were not really enlarged, just irritated by the reflux. He was in our room on the weekend and I could hear him refluxing all night long.

I know what you mean about being excited though....just knowing finally what has been causing all of his pain and problems is worth a million dollars, and to hopefully have some resolution of that is incredible. I am really happy for you guys!! You will have to keep me updated! I hope things continue to go well for you guys and that he is back on regular food as soon as possible and all healed up and back to, or I guess I should say better than normal. :) Have a great day!
