think its just this cold windy weather we've been having as she is not showing any signs of a cold such as a runny nose. Funny, how the cough will go away for awhile then come back, go away..etc. I know I've been told that kids with asthma cough...but why?? Shes sill on the albuterol & flovent twice a day every day and shes not been wheezing at all, just breaths a bit heavier when shes active..which is all the time!! Please dear Lord, don't let this next baby get asthma!!!

Sorry to hear that she is back to coughing. It is so hard for them to not trigger their asthma.

I hope she is feeling better soon!

Could it be pollen in the air? I know when it's windy here, all of us are hacking. I imagine things are pretty much dead where you are as it's the middle of winter, but it could be dust or other crud the wind is stirring up. Especially if her cough comes and goes.

We just got rid of Jack's cough, you and I talked about it before. His ped. FINALLY put him on Pulmicort and his cough is GONE.
Maybe this is an option for you? I would ask, it couldn't hurt. ;-)

She was on that through a nebulizer but her pulmanologist took her off that and put her on the flovent with a spacer. She was saying that unless the face mask is really tight against their face, the vapors can damage their eyes..and she won't sit still for anything..so we've been using the flovent along with the albuterol 2 times a day every day. She has been doing rather well, hardly coughing at all, just breaths a bit heavier when shes active which I understand is normal for a child with asthma. I wouldn't be surprised if she has some type of allergy as well, her doc mentioned putting her on singluair and I'm going to bring that up at her next appointment, see if that helps any.

Well, that is great to know. :angry7: Now I'm going to worry about Jack's eyes.
Darn docs. :banghead:

Sorry Emily...I know we dont' need anything else to worry about with the kiddos!!! The abluterol I guess is not as strong as the pulmacort, but even when she was getting that, I would put my hand over the 2 holes on the sides of the mask so the vapors would not drift up toward her eyes.

NO, I just am ticked that my doc didn't tell me. I'm glad that I know now. ;-)

I'm sure it does not happen overnight, maybe just over a prolonged period of time?? Her specialist along with another doc told me about the possible eye damage...maybe not everyone knows??

I did not know about the eye damage? But the mask has holes by the nose and the steam or what ever it is called goes by their eyes and forehead. So why do docs not tell you about the issue about the eyes? Shanna.....what is the number by the mcg on the Flovent? My daughter was on 44 mcg, but when her asthma got bad again....the pulmologist changed it to 110 mcg twice a day. She is also on Zyrtec.....1/2 tsp 2 times a day.....she use to be on 1 tsp once a day, but that really did not seem to help and the nurse prationer at the pulmologists told me I could try spilting the dosage and see how that worked.

Odd how no one else's doc told them about the eye issue..I tried doing a general search on the internet, didn't find anything yet but I'm sure her pulmanologist would not have brought it up if there wasn't some truth to it. Anyway, the number on the Flovent is 110mcg and she gets that 2 times a day. Now, so far tonight (knock on wood) she is not coughing much at all. Plus its cold season and she is in daycare...hate when you can't really tell if its asthma related or just a simple cold...

I agree, the pulmanologist probably knows what he is talking about. :haha:
I hope that her cough stears clear. It is frustrating, what is the worse is when they cough so much they can't sleep. :sad3:
