I was having a nice chat with leigh and she told me that grey boogers were a sign of sinus infection. Many times i though maiya has sinus issues- but all the docs keep telling me that as long as it is not green- no sinus infection.

Anyone else have seen grey boogers (maiya is always grey) and did they have SI?

Thanks

D's never had gray boogers or a sinus infection. He usually runs clear or off-white.

Lesley- when i spoke to leigh and casually mentionned it this weekend, she mentionned you and catherine, and the fact she was grey

I have to ask, just to be well armed with knowledge when i finally get to see the ped

what are her symptoms with the SI?

We have:

headaches- which may be attributed to zantac
constant nose rubbing, especially in sleep= which we attributed to nasopharyngeal reflux
constant ear bothering- she always has her hand up her right ear
right unde her eyse, at the cheek level- she gets these bruised like spots- looks like she had been puched in the maxillary sinuses but all docs dismiss me.

she does not drain much though- just thick grey sticky boogers

sound familiar?

Rachel has sinus problems as well. She has gray boogers alot, but she doesn't act sick or anything until they turn green. When that happens we usually have problems. I have noticed though that when she is teething she gets gray boogers. I don't know if that means anything, but that is what usually happens. Her doc. also put her on singular and OH MY GOSH it has done wonders with her sinus'. Her eyes look better she doesn't cough or have watery eyes anymore.

Jo ... Catherine typically exhibits the following symptoms:

thick gray-green snot but minimal constant external drainage; usually just a clogged nose that requires continual excavation
nasal congestion
allergic shiners
low-grade fever (101 or so)
coughing, but not always
horrid breath
increased irritability, but it's hard for me to say this is a definitive sign as Catherine is an extremely high maintenance child even on her best daysIf Maiya seems to frequently have symptoms like these (and frequent is more often than a few times a year, more like monthly), you may want to schedule a head CT for her next dr visit, especially as you have to wait so long for appointments.

Jo, I too have always had sinus issues, and a greenish gray is "normal" for me...the symptoms Lesley listed describe every cold I get...it almost always end up as an SI...TG I don't get sick very often though!
