Okay, Keegan went a whole day w/o puking and tonight just threw up all over me while I was giving him his bedtime bottle. He took five ounces and then starting gagging and barfed. He has been doing this since getting his cold. I could tell there were a few close calls earlier today but he managed to keep it down.
He also seems to be trying to gag himself and makes a horrible throat clearing noise, but different from when his reflux was really bad. I am thinking that maybe he is swallowing mucuous and that might be making him sick and his gagging, throat clearing noises might be him trying to throw it up.
Any thoughts, does anyone else's kid puke when they have colds? He doesn't have a temp, I checked.

Maybe the stuffy nose and stuff draining down his throat makes him nauseous? When my allergies are really bad, and I've got major post nasal drip, it always makes me feel kinda sick, so I hope it's the same for him and will pass when his little nose un-stuffs!

That's what I am thinking Lindsay. I know when I swallow too much of that crap when I have a cold it makes me feel a little queasy. This is real barfing, not his refluxing spitup, he never was a big spitter anyway since he is silent reflux and rarely, if ever, spits up anymore. This is projectile and I can tell he is trying not to barf but can't seem to hold back sometimes.
I hope that's it. Man, I hate it when they are sick, Dylan's nose looked like a science experiment this AM it was so crusted over. Poor kid could hardly breathe. I hope they start getting better soon.

Stephanie, we just went through this. And Jack has been doing the gagging thing.
My thought is that they get that snot (sorry TMI) in the back of their throat and want it out. When Jack puked he was coughing and gagging on his snot.
Ugh... I hope that things improve. YUCK Poor baby.:sad3:

Thanks Emily. I feel better hearing that someone else's kiddo is doing this. He just puked up his breakfast (thank God he was still in his highchair wearing a plastic bib, much easier cleanup!) which was stage 2 oatmeal w/apples and bananas. Upon closer examination (yuck!) it was very mucousy. I am going to try the baby Dimetapp Kim suggested, she said it works well on Connor in drying him up when he is congested. I can hear all the stuff in his head and chest but it doesn't seem to be coming out (as opposed to Dylan's crusty nose). When he coughs it sounds very mucousy.

 Poor Keegan, I definitely think there is more puking with a cold.
I hope he feels better soon. Does the Dimetapp make him sleepy? If so,maybe that is a good thing b/c I think when you don't feel good extra rest is so important.

Poor baby....Hows he doing now? I agree with everyone else, snot in the back of my throat can make me want to gag and they don't know how to clear it so vomiting works for them unfortunatley. Hope he's better!
