View Full Version : Pulmonalogist appointment..
Lindasmom 10-17-2006, 07:08 PM I wrote about how frustrated I was that Linda-Marie had to wait until the end of November for an appointment...well, after taking her back to her doc for another check up and telling him, he called their office and our appointment got moved up to tomorrow!!! So glad she has a doc that truly cares about her. Anyway, please send some prayers our way that we can hopefully find out why she keeps getting sick. Her doc brought up her getting the 'sweat test' done...ahhhh! Momma does not need anything else to worry about at this point, but I know its just something to rule out. Hubby and I have never been tested for that gene, but I donate blood and they keep bugging me for more, so I assume I'm ok. that test is Friday morning...and I have to wait till Monday for the results. And honestly, I believe Linda-Marie is fine, all this started from catching a commom cold from her cousins and the whole time she has been sick (about 3 months now) my 2 nieces have also been sick, first one than the other...keep trading germs back and forth. Just really hope we get some answers...she (and I) hardly got any sleep last night as she was back to coughing pretty hard and today she has been wheezy.
sixdogssixcats 10-17-2006, 08:18 PM What a stroke of luck! I hope you get some answers.
Debbie 10-17-2006, 09:59 PM Thank goodness you don't have to wait now...how dumb to make you wait when she has been sick for so long in the first place.....
Emily M 10-18-2006, 08:57 AM Shanna, I'm sooooo glad that you got her in today!
Update asap!
Don't worry about the sweat test, I'm sure that you are right, just to rule everything out. I would say that it is a good possibility of asthma. But, do not quote me on that. LOL:sad3: :smt036
Myrita 10-18-2006, 10:34 AM What luck!! I'm glad the doc did that. I'll send you some positive vibes, mama.
Katey 10-18-2006, 10:39 AM So glad they got you in. That was crazy that you were going to have to wait so long. I will be waiting for the update. I hope it is all good news.
Lindasmom 10-18-2006, 08:47 PM Well, we went and her doc believes she does indeed have asthma..:sad5: Hubby had it as a child and basically outgrew his, he still will get a little short of breath at times, so we're hoping Linda-Marie out grows it as well. Most likely triggered by all these colds she keeps cathing from my sister in laws kids...love them to death, but I swear if she does not keep them out of Linda-Maries face when they are sick from now on I'm gonna have to hurt her...:evil4: I know they are just children but I keep asking her to PLEASE make sure they do not get so close to her or kiss on her face when they themselves have a cold, might as well be...:banghead: LOL!! Anyways, whenever she does have a cold (like right now) shes to stay on the albuterol 3 times a day and she was put on another med given through an inhalor..we were given a face mask type thing to spray it into and no she does not like it!! Cold and flu season is just starting too...anyone care to meet me at the local bar??? :drinkalot:
Emily M 10-18-2006, 09:33 PM Ahhh... I'm there. Seems that that albuterol is not working for us at the moment, we go on friday to the ped. hopefully he will have another suggestion for us.
At least you did get some med and some answers.
FYI, Jack HATES his face mask as well, we sit and I turn on Sesame Street, his new fav. and I sing the "abc's" to him, he sits still the whole time. Try putting on something that she likes to watch. That might help a bit, those breathing treatments seem to go on and on.
Lindasmom 10-19-2006, 10:11 AM Well, the mask we have has a cylinder tube that the inhalor hooks into so its faster than using the nebulizer...but I still have to pin her down!!
Emily M 10-19-2006, 04:04 PM That's how ours is, it still takes us 5 min. to do a treatment.
ARGH....:banghead:
Debbie 10-19-2006, 04:10 PM At least you know whats up now. I'm sure your sishas to understand it's not in Linda's best intrest to bring her sick kids over....ggrrr. My sis will do the same thing and justify it by saying he needs to be exposed to this stuff!!!!! NO! Not Really!
Lindasmom 10-20-2006, 08:51 AM Well actually Debbie, she watches Linda-Marie Mon-Fri while I'm working, hubby works at night and sleeps during the day so SIL watches her for us. I'm praying my boss will allow me to work part time after our new baby comes, that way, I could watch them part of the day and hubby could take over the rest.
Lindasmom 10-20-2006, 08:56 AM Emily, is that the only medicine he is on at the moment? Her regular doc started her on Pulmacort (sp?) in the nebulizer after she was hospitalized but the pulmanologist said we could stop that and use an inhalor which I think is Flovent. And with the mask thing we have, it only takes about a minute; it has a small yellow disk in it and we just have to make sure it moves about 6 times, that way we know she is breathing it in. We do 2 puffs twice a day, more albuterol if she has a cold.
