I can't believe how nice and inviting everyone is - thanks for the warm welcome.
I am a first time mom with a 12 week old son, Henry, who was diagnosed with reflux at 4 weeks. He started on Zantac and Mylanta, which worked for a while. He started on Prevacid about 5 days ago and we are just starting to see a little improvement. We discontinued the Zantac and are continuing the Mylanta. We saw the doc today who changed his formula to Nutramigen and we go for an upper GI tomorrow. The good news is he is gaining weight. 16 lbs 10 oz - I know he is big and he gained 1.5 lbs in 3 weeks. So I guess he is really not spitting up as much as I think.
For the last 2 days he has had blood streaks in his spit up and that is why the doc wanted to see him today. She said the back of his throat is red from the acid. She says she only sees this in 1 out of 50 of her reflux kids. So I guess I was not over reacting.
So prevacid, Mylanta, Nutramagin for now - and an upper GI tomorrow to make sure there is nothing more serious going on. I will keep my fingers crossed.
Thanks again everyone and I look forward to getting to know all of you as well.
