I am so tired of hearing my baby cough..ahhhhh!!! Called her pulmonary (prob. spelled that wrong) to set up an appointment...and guess what? the next opening is not till November 29th :censored: Shes been on an antibiotic for almost 3 days now..no change. Still on the steroid at night and I think we're going back to the albuterol too. I just do not understand why this cough will not go away. Appetite is great, shes playing, etc. do any of your little ones who have been dx with Reactive Airway Disease cough a lot? I mean..its not constant..shes not choking or anything..it just lingers..

Shanna, we are in the same boat. Jack has had a cough since June. Actually all 3 of mine have. My parents are calling it now "the Miller cough" LOL ....

Maybe call your ped and ask about a nebulizer with Albuterol. That is what ours put us on immediately when we went last week, it helped a heap. He is still coughing, but not wheezing anymore.

(((hugs))) I hope that something materializes soon.

I am sorry but I haven't heard about the restrictive airways problem. I am also sorry that you can't see a pulminologist until then. Can her usual GP give you the right doses of preventer and alberterol to get her through until then?

We do have plenty of the meds, and she is not wheezing as much...just this stupid cough..keep thinking her poor throat must be so raw, but she does not complain when eating..tough little cookie!! keep thinking we're gonna be celebrating her first bday in December and she'll still be coughing!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

Oh, and Emily...were you ever given a reason for why the cough is still hanging around?? Her doc thought a sinus infection could be causing a post nasal drip, causing it...but I'm not so sure since its still the same.

Well, the suspect is asthma... so that's what we are treating him for. My ped said that if it goes away and doesn't come back, no asthma, if it goes away and comes back and back and back, ASTHMA! AUGH....:hissyfit:

Well...crap! lol. The meds she is on are ones that a person with asthma would take. I know hubby had bronchitis as a child (don't know how his health was at Linda-Marie's age)..course his dad smokes...plus he has allergies...hey, I can just blame him for all this!! :smt036 I'd just like to go back to the days when she didn't have to get medicated..

Oh I soooo hear ya. My hubby has allergies, didn't have asthma until going to Iraq then came back with breathing problems.
My girls, they are 5, no health problems what so ever, this one, it's one thing after another. :hairpull:

I've been reading that many kids with reflux have asthma, could that be the case with her...even though she only has a mild case of reflux? She hardly ever spit up and since shes become more mobile, does not seem to be as uncomfortable as she was but I can still tell when the reflux bothers her. Up until about...7 months old, shes been healthy..no colds or anything...then her cousins got sick, so she got sick, they were all passing the cold back & forth, etc, etc then BAM..breathing issues. Odd how it took a simple cold to set it all off.

That's very possible.. relux causes alot of crap.
I just don't know. My ped. seemed to think that it is just in Jack's genes. :sad5:
