Hi Robynne, you responded to my post the other day about Sebastian’s swallow study comming back normal. You mentioned trying thickened feeds and I just wanted to get some more info on that.
Sebastian has been doing really well this week so I don’t know if it will be necessary or not, but it would be good to be ready if he starts having problems again. I noticed when he was eating breakfast today he was looking up and stretching his neck out. He did not make any noises when he swallowed and he is only a little congested now. I don’t know if he just figured out a way to get the food down better or what.
Any way, he did not do well with rice in his bottle when we tried it at about three months. I think the problem was the cereal nipple. It came out too fast and he would choke and spit it out. He would not drink it at all. I have been mixing a little bit of cereal in his baby food to make it a bit thicker and he is eating that fine.
I was also wondering about water. He loves it, but coughs like crazy when he drinks it. He had water during the test and he coughed but the said he was not aspirating it at all just coughing, so should I worry about that or just let him have the water?
Thanks for all or your help. You have been great, I am so glad you are here to help.
