I have been flavoring my sons Zantac with Cherry syrup that my pharmacist recommended. It is th only way we can get him to take it. A few ladies here expressed concerns here that in doing so may alter the properties of the medication. My pharmacist did not mention this. Is this a concern?

I'm a big fan of going with proven formulae for drugs. The ones that are proven in the lab to be stable with ingredient-X for X amount of minutes. Having said that, zantac is tolerated well with food on administration. This means that if you give the flavouring right before administration, you are probably fine. Just don't apply the flavouring to the whole bottle. It may be stable but if it has never been tested, you just don't know.
