Sam's Mom

Any kiddos have one??? How did it work?? Sam will be having one sometime in the near future---the only test he has never had! His new genetic doc thinks it is a good idea, he said hypotonic kids can retain CO2 and cause sleep issues like Sam has had. I sounds fairly non-invasive so I guess it is worth the night in the hospital--nothing new for us!

My peanut had one when she was at the NICU. She was ten days old then, but I don't think they do it different w/ age. It's completely non-invasive. The only thing that tortured me was when she had reflux I couldn't hold her. You're not allowed to move them because the probes are so sensitive. Although, w/ her they were basically testing for how may apnea episodes she had. I don't know what else to tell you. Just ask if you need more info.

Hi Amanda, we have been lucky enough to have two lol, it actually isn't that bad it just looks a lot with the wires. You go in and it takes about half an hour to put on the wires, on the tummy, face, head, feet and hands. The ladies really know what they are doing and have it all set up, and once all the wires are on, they go to sleep. I think Sam will be fine as he is a pretty good sleeper, but Parker had a lot of problems cause he is a light sleeper, everytime he wakes it takes a couple of hours to go back to sleep. We were only about to get 5 hours of reading each sleep study.
IF you are specifically looking at the CO2, then make sure they put the nose probe on, Parker struggled with this one so they didn't put it on, but I think that is the one for the CO2.
Good luck, let us know how you go.

Hi
We are going to work with an ENT and Zach may have one soon
He has always been a great sleeper...reflux and all
BUT sleeps 12hrs through and always seem tired/lethargic
We also think his adenoids may be affecting his sleep and before considering surgery, I would like to rule out other problems etc
DH has major major allergy issues, asthma and snores like a mad man!
Let us know how it goes
