My hubby is really into the homeopathic medicine and has mentioned the use of this for acid reflux and gastritis, but I told him I'd talk to my "experts" before trying anything new. I'm waiting for my Ped to call me back because Peanut did this weird quick eye movement. She moved her eyeballs from side to side very quickly and then finished eating. I think the Reglan is showing it's bad side. She's also been having loose stools quite often which means Prevacid has also shown it ugly side. Just wanted to ask how and with what results did you use aloe vera? If I do end up using it, it will probably be a med/homeo combination. Has anyone done this?

I personally have never used it; however, there are moms here who have used homeopathic remedies, probiotics and other forms of treatments (chiroptractors, cranio-sacral therapy, etc.) with varying degrees of success to help treat GERD.

As long as you're not giving any herbs that could cause dangerous side effects (I honestly don't think aloe vera would be harmful!), IMO, I think natural remedies are worth a try.

If you do decide to try aloe vera, let us know how it goes--and be sure to let you ped. know what you're doing so that s/he's aware of the situation. :-)

Hi there we are currently on homeopathic medicine to try and treat my sons reflux.

I have not seen any improvement in two months, but I am still perservering for at least another 3 months.

I would suggest that you take your little one to a homeopathic practitioner. They do a full analysis of your child and give the homeopathic combination to suit. I have not ever been given aloe vera to treat it. They look at the reflux from the time it starts and look at what may have happened to cause the reflux, at the moment we are detoxing the hep B vaccination. There are over 3000 homeopathic remedies so I do think it best for a child, to see a qualified homeopath.

We used Aloe Vera with Shae for awhile when she was a baby. Desperate times call for desperate measures was my attitude. We never really noticed it do anything for her though.

Yes, I have tried Aloe Vera Juice. I take my five month old to a naturopathic doctor. The only thing that you have to be careful with is Aloe Vera is a natural laxative. In fact she has my 9 year old drinking it for constipation. Zantac did nothing for my daughter. Axid helped her for a while until she developed an intolerance to it. Zegerid (PPI) gave her diarrhea and a terrible diaper rash. So now we are just doing herbs. They seem to help some. I am waiting to take her back for her 6 month well child to see about Prevacid. I don't know if she will be able to tolerate that or not. The aloe vera seemed to help some but I feel that it too gave her diarrhea. I am using Catnip and Fennel, Chamomile. I have also used Colic Calm and that has seemed to help her the most. In fact one of the ingredients in Colic Calm is aloe vera. Hope that this is helpful.
