Hi
My ds was just given omnicef for a sinus infection
I heard from another mom that is contains dairy...i asked our ped and she said NO
Does omnicef contain any dairy?
My ds is dairy intolerant (no allergic) will he have a problem with this?
Thanks, Kim

kim, upon review of the monograph, there doesn't appear to be any dairy related product in the suspension or tablet. Sucrose, citric acid, sodium citrate, sodium benzoate, xanthan gum, guar gum, artificial strawberry and cream flavours, silicon dioxide and magnesium stearate are the excipient ingredients listed. This suspension should not be a problem with him based on this.
Thanks, Graham, Ph.C.

kim , soy doesn't seem to be there either. The problem he is having might be from anything more than an adverse effect from the drug itself. I'm not sure what problem Zach is having but maybe you should see if the doctor could change the medication for him.
Thanks,

Thanks so much!
Zach had a major poop blow out last night and this am and was worse than when he started the med
The ped switched him to zithromax...thanks for your feedback

Kim, no problem. Remember zithromax continues to work for a number of days after he finishes the medication so he may still seem a little sick on the last day of the med but this is normal.
