Robynne Elkin, MOT, OTR/L, CKT
Robynne received her BS in special and elementary education from the University of Texas at Austin. She directed an infant intervention program and taught preschool programs for children with disabilities with heterogeneously grouped children (birth-5 years) in 2 Texas school districts. Her specialization was working with children who were autistic.
After 5 years of teaching, Robynne consulted as an Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapist for some of her autistic students while working on her masters in occupational therapy at Texas Woman’s University. She was hired as an OT at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano (PHP) after she graduated to start up a pediatric outpatient department. In the past 10 years, she has also started the developmental therapy program in PHP’s NICU, assisted with starting the oral-motor feeding program, and have played a large role in beginning the modified barium swallow study program.
Robynne says her biggest accomplishments are her two GERDlings. Alyssa, 8 years, has mosaic Turner’s syndrome. Drew, 5 years, has a rare metabolic disease called Tyrosinemia Type 1. It is because of Drew that she invented the RES-Q Infant Wedge. Now other infants and parents can have peaceful sleep with reflux.
She is currently working part-time consulting with infants and toddlers who have feeding aversion and sensory issues. She is also performing modified barium swallow studies in radiology and consulting in a private pediatric practice to address GER babies and poor feeders. In her spare time she likes to work with NICU staff and parents to educate them about the RES-Q Wedge in addition to lecturing about dysphagia, reflux, and feeding aversion.
