I was just wondering if any of you ladies have had or are currently using Flovent with your child? How long before you saw a difference? Have you seen success with it?

Have you seen success with it? Mary 09-10-2006, 07:36 AM Thankfully, asthma is not an issue we deal with here. I really feel for the moms whose kids have this on top of reflux. :-( I do know that Lesley's (sixdogssixcats) daughter, Catherine, has asthma and I *think* she's on Flovent. I'll see if she can help shed some light on this for you. :-) scarlet 09-10-2006, 07:52 AM We are using flovent for both my boys and it takes about 2 to 3 days too see a difference. I always double it when they are sick and I notice an improvement then in a day or two. I have had success with both boys, the only problem is they sometimes don't want to take it, so if I can get them to take it then they are good. sixdogssixcats 09-10-2006, 07:55 AM Catherine uses Pulmicort, not Flovent, when necessary. We have no experience with Flovent but I know others here use it or have used it. If Flovent is like Pulmicort, it takes about two weeks to reach peak effectiveness so you can't just use it once in a while and achieve any benefits. When Catherine starts to show any signs of respiratory problems (and I mean lung sounds, not just snot in her nose), we start using Pulmicort again and will keep it up for several weeks. We do not use it every day just "because" as a preventative. She's on Singulair for that. Emma's mom 09-10-2006, 10:46 AM We use Flovent with our 5 year old son. He is like a different child (once we got the dose right). His asthma has been a minimal problem in our lives now. He also has an albuteral inhaler for times when the Flovent needs help....but we have only had to use that a couple of times in the month. Now if we could get his sinus issues under control!! It is always something isn't it? ConnorsMommy 09-10-2006, 10:58 PM We tried Flovent with my son but it made him very irritable for some reason. I haven't heard of that happening with any of the other kiddos though. He now takes Pulmicort but it is a fight to get him to take it as it is through a nebulizer and takes 5 minutes. eaglemansbaby1124 09-10-2006, 11:16 PM My oldest was on Flovent for along time. It took a couple of days to see a difference in her breathing. She was on Flovent and Serevent for about 3 years until they put her on Advair. She has severe asthma and is on 6 different meds for it. |
