Finally, Nick is going to get to have his upper GI on Wednesday. The pedi seems to think that if he is a refluxer, it will show itself. I told him that the upper GI only shows one moment in time, and that if he's not refluxing at the exact moment they do it, it won't show. He didn't seem to agree. I don't agree with him. What do you guys think? He also said (i've never heard this) that if he has erosive esophagitis, it will show up...the contrast will stick in the ulcers....huh??? Any feedback is appreciated.

Hmmm, we didn't have a very good upper GI experience -- D hated to drink so as soon as I got the bottle in his mouth and he took one tiny sip (maybe) the tech wanted to take a look for the reflux. And, guess what, he didn't reflux.
But I know there've been other moms here with kids who definitely had reflux, but their upper GI did not show it. Because you're right, they're not continually refluxing. If the tech watches for any length of time, I think there's a good chance they'd see it, but there's no guarantee.
My dd has never had the upper GI; however, what Becky said is exactly what I've heard moms on the boards say about it. It is a point-in-time test and hopefully they will catch some refluxing to prove what's going on.
Please let us know how it goes!

Jessica I hope you get some answers. The dr must think he has reflux or he wouldn't have scheduled the upper GI? Please let us know how it goes.
