Why can't Singulair granules be mixed with a liquid to give to a child? Per the package instructions, they can be mixed with certain foods like applesauce and followed by any liquid but not mixed with a liquid for dosing. That makes no sense to me. Thanks so much!

Lesley, Merck says that the granules are very unstable in anything other than the specific media that they mention in the package insert which you have mentioned. This is the reason that they came out with the granules and not a syrup or suspension. You may follow the dose with a liquid but do not mix it ahead of time, regarless of how quick you do it. They are also concerned with what happens to the granules in liquid like caking or sticking to the sides of the glass. Hope this helps, Graham Ph.C.
