First off, thank you for being a part of this site. We really appreciate your time.
Although both my kids have GERD, my son is the one I am currently concerned with. He showed absolutely no signs of reflux or any allergies until 11 months old when he was switched to Regular Dairy Formula instead of Organic Dairy Formula (he was breastfed until 6 months). Then, at 16 months old he caught the flu (not rotavirus) and lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks. The flu hit us all and only lasted a few days, but he refused to eat after that. After two weeks in the hospital it was determined he had reflux and he was put on meds. Although he has been on various meds since then and at was discovered to be MSPI, but he continues to decline. He also lost his speech during this illness and still has not recovered completely. (He had 8 words, lost all, and just now is back up to 3 words). He was recently diagnosed with global delays but no underlying diagnosis. Autism was kicked around, but the therapists say it's unlikely due to his sociability.
Yesterday he had his scope and ph probe. The scope looked good, but showed an enlarged opening between esophagus and stomach, but no hernia...(Not sure what that means). Results of the ph probe are not back, I onlyl looked at the box a few times but did see it between .03 (lower probe) and 3 (upper probe) several times.
So, the real question I want to know is at what point is he considered FTT? My current pediatrician (who is not great) says he "looks" good. But never looks at his chart. I will attach his height/weight chart. To me, its scarey and I'm concerned that his delays are directly a result of his nutrition since he was early to hit milestones until his illness and now is delayed. (By the way, he eats all day long, but very limited types of food) Do you have any advice for me or doctor's to refer to? My insurance is changing in two weeks and I can self-refer to any specialist.
