We are home from Bryna neurologist appt (she's fine - confirmed it was just sandifers syndrome) and Brayden's scope and ph probe insertion...He is currently sleeping off the drugs, but I am expecting a long night since he is very upset with his "no-nos". They told us not to take them off of him...but that means he can't even hold a sippy cup by himself.

So here's my question - his scope looked good, but the Dr said that his opening between his esophagus and stomach was too large...so he expected to find a hernia and didn't...What does that mean? I tried to google it but it seems that the diaphragm is between those two parts...so I'm not sure what to even look up. Anyone have any ideas?

He also took biopsies all along the way. Anyone know what they could show besides Celiac?

I'm pretty sure the biopsies also show food allergies. (correct me if I'm wrong).

I honestly don't know anything about the anatomy side of reflux, so I'm at a total loss about the enlarged opening. Is there a way you could put in a call to the GI's office and ask about this?

I think sometimes docs forget that we're not all med. students...:-(

Biopsies are looking for irregularities at a cellular level - allergy damage, reflux damage, cancer, etc. It's good that they are being so thorough. I don't know what the lack of hernia means... don't be afraid to ask the doctor!!!!

Cheryl..i would definitely put a call in to ask them what that means..he should have told you when he said it..you know?

I am sure the biopsies are for allergies and so forth as the others have mentioned..keep us posted when you get the results!

Sorry I can't be of more help with the anatomy part! Just wanted to send you and Brayden hugs:hug: I'm glad he did well with it all! Hope tonight goes well and the No No's don't bother him too much! Like the other's said I think the biopsies check for allergies. I would definetly put a call in about the Hernia question!
