Just wondering how many of our kiddos have been scoped and what the results were. :hello2:

B had the upper endoscopy.

I wasn't sure how to answer the questions about how we feel re: having done the test, as we did find out that her meds are working; however, we don't know how much damage is being done when she's not on meds. KWIM?

I'm glad we did it; however, if we were to do it again, I'd insist that she be off her meds.

I don't even know what to answer...I don't even know what "type" of scope it was and I wont get the answer for 3 weeks...I need a "yes, but I'm still in the process" answer...

Ian had the endoscopy and the flexible sigmoidscopy. Biopsies were taken during both. We gained info from the tests - the biopsies came back normal, ruling out cancers, the pictures showed minimal damage which helped in figuring out meds and how aggressive to be. I'm sure the the GI got more out of the scopes than we did....

Top to bottom (upper endoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy) with biopsies, and it didn't tell us anything we didn't already know.

We have had every test imaginable except the colonoscopy. In the end I am glad I have had every one done. They were all done to rule out or confirm something, so even if it was negative, we would at least know we didn't have to go down that track.

The scope showed no inflamation and biopsys negative, but at least the meds have been working and other stuff ruled out.

Andrew had the EGD done with Biopsies...and it showed Chronic Gastritis and reflux of course.

Ali had her first endo at 10 months. She had just been diagnosed 2 months prior and had been on Prevacid and Propulsid for about 6 weeks and was still refusing to eat and losing weight. The endo indicated severe esophagitis and a strange black substance in her stomach which her long practicing ped GI had never seen and had samples sent to several hospitals and we never did find out what it was. Her GI felt it may have been unabsorbed iron deposits from the iron supplement she was taking due to anemia. Biopsies came back normal but b/c of the severe esophagitis the GI put on her Neocate and we removed all food from her diet to give her esophagus a chance to heal. She did lose more weight (in getting use to the vile Neocate taste) and we almost needed to place a g-tube in her. But once her esophagus began to heal she did much better and we gradually re-introduced foods of which she never showed a reaction to.

At 22 months she had another endo. She had been doing well - weaned from Neocate then Nutramigen at 18 months, eating fairly well and gaining weight due to Pedisure but she took a signifcant downward turn at 20months. The GI was looking specifically for allergies but again nothing showed up. We just continued on course and she eventually improved.

BTW I changed my user name. It is my girls' names.

Ava's had 2 ugi scopes (1 w/ biopsies), 2 ph probes, a barium enema, and tons of other stuff...and we're getting ready to do more next week. She was only off meds for 48 hours on the last scope, and the results were clear, but like Mary, I'd also like to know what kind of trouble we'd be in if she were off her medi-meds. It's been a long road, but I'm glad we've done what we have. More next week, and then comes the decision I've been dreading for 16 mos now...to fundo, or not?

Connor had the scope done when he was 2 months old and also had a broncoscopy at the same time due to a chronic cough and stridor. Everything came back fine on both of them. We are looking at doing another scope in 6 mos if things don't improve. I would say it was worth it for us as we at least found out nothing else was wrong and there was no damage although he was so young at the time there wouldn't have been much time for any damage to show yet.

no scope...I guess because we found meds that work huh...only a baruim swallow to confirm reflux.

No scopes for Emma...yet. Just an upper GI, which confirmed severe reflux.

Nope no scopes here, so far. We have actually not done any testing as his GI says it's very obvious he has reflux. So that's where we are.....not sure what to think about it all.

No scopes, our GI is so positive that she has reflux and is sensitive to proteins that he doesn't think we will gain anything through testing.

Same here with us, his ped is certainly sure it's reflux. He also showed improvement with diet changes so we have our answers.

At 15 months, the GI was going to scope her, but due to insurance reasons, we couldn't have it done. However, at 18 months, she finally grew out of most of her reflux symptoms, so I'm kind of glad we didn't spend $3000 on the scope.

I guess most of you know we were scoped and what we found out. The reason it was done, was because she was so unresponsive to meds, and losing weight. So she was scoped and had a sigmoid. She was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis. So we found our answers, not that it made anything easier. She will be scoped again, probably several times.

Rachel had one done about a month ago. I'm not sure what it was called, but they went down her nose and confirmed she had laryangomalicia. Thankfully, she has a very mild case and has almost out grown it, so I guess it was helpful.

James had his scope done with biopsies and we learned that his Prevacid was definitely working, all his parts were healed and healthy looking, and the main thing was we learned he had a hiatal hernia. To this day I am still glad we did the scope.

Payton has had the upper endoscopy as well as a bronch scope. They bronched him b/c he had very bad laryngomalacia and stridor.

Both the laryngomalacia and stridor are clearing up both with age and also as a result of the fundo.

2 EGD scopes.
1st one while on 30mg of prevacid, things looked pretty nasty in there.
2nd scope while on 45mg and things were so much better. Still a bit of inflammation, irritation, and enlargement but nothing to be concerned about.

Jackson's had an UGI, but not a scope. The GI wanted to do a scope....but I'm too chicken to do it.
