Hello...My 3 month old daughter is on 1ml 2x day of Zantac. I'm wondering if this medication causes gas? She's been on Zantac for about a month now, and it seems that after just about each feeding she goes through this grunting routine that lasts about an hour or so. Please advise. Thanks.

Gas in the pediatric world is either, put simply, farting or burping. In the long list of potential side effects of this remarkably safe medication, this is not considered to one. What you may be seeing is the normal gastrocolic reflex, which in infants is quite exaggerated and pronounced. This is the reflex that we all have that makes our bowels churn and move when we eat. Certainly not reason to stop the meds.
