My grandson Jayden is almost 11 months old, has been diagnosed with GERD since 5 months old when I found this site and took the info into an appt with my daughter, he probably could have been diagnosed at birth....Every time he goes to a clinic, a nurse, a tech even the women at the front desk and Dr's look at him with concern because his skin tone is so yellow, but then it gets brushed off as he must eat a lot of carrots..not really. His eyes are not yellow. He was Jaundice at birth but did not need to be treated. At diagnosis of Gerd he was prescribed Zantac..he took that until he was at the max dose for and 18 lb baby and has been on Previcid since, he now weighs 22 lbs and is taking 30mg of Previcid a day. I wonder if this yellow skin could be from the meds or if there may be other conditions that can cause such yellow skin.
I will post a pic here of him so you can see for youself how yellow he is.
Thank you!
aydens mom on the left and her sister- in- law from Az on the right two very different skin tones yet he still looks very yellow.

Hi,

This condition is called carotenemia and is a result of eating lots of vegetables and fruits that contain the vitamin B pigment, carotene. It is harmless and not due to the medicines and I consider a sign of good health.

Good luck, Dr. Olson
