Rachel has a cough yet again. It seems like whenever she gets allgeries or a cold it turns into bronchitis. I try my hardest to make sure she doesn't get sick, but if I have to take her in to the doc. it will be the fourth time this year. I'm so scared she is going to have bronchitis again. I have been told its because of the reflux, but I don't know. Does anybody have this problem too?? Is there anything I can do to try to prevent this from happening to her?

Hi there!! Yes, Upper Respiratory infection occurances can be increased because of reflux. As well as ear infections, throat infections and other things like that. If you think she is getting another bout of Bronchitis, you should get her in and try to catch it early.
I hope this helps... it is just something that comes with the territory. So sorry to hear she is getting a cough again!! Good luck!

Yup... refluxers can be prone to upper respiratory junk. But do keep in mind that we all seem to have a weakness. For example, my grandmother has always been prone to pneumonia for some weird reason. My mom's is bronchitis. Mine is laryngitis and sinus infections. Each person is different. I know it's hard, but I agree with Michele - it's better to know early on that something is brewing so you can nip it in the bud and keep it from getting out of hand.

Yes...Reflux can cause more illness. Andrew always gets really sick, when he gets sick...it is never anything simple! His colds and coughs always turn into Bronchitis.

Definatly an issue here as well - try to keep on it as it could turn into something worse. I have found no prevention for it. If you find a miracle cure let me know LOL!!
Sorry to hear Rachel is not feeling well again! Hope she gets better soon!

We did have the congestion in the beginning due to reflux. Now that his is under control he is clear.
I hope that things improve for your little one soon.

Hiya
Jake was exactly the same then he had antibody testing which showed he had low antibodies to phneumonia/colds etc and he had the pheumoccal vacinations he's been so much better since. I'm not sure if you get these vaccinations already as standard in the US as they have only just introduced them here in the UK for all kiddies.
He used to get any illness his reflux would worsen resulting in admition to hospital, touch would we haven't had an admittion since the jabs....maybe its just conincidence though cos we have had some good weather for once
He still has the cough though (had since Nov 05) which I'm convinced is reflux related but his doc isn't sure

Thanks everyone. At least I know its not just me. I am taking her in to the doctor today. Even the nurse commented on that every time she gets the slightest cough in turns into something else. So maybe, hopefully today we can get some more answers.
Wish us luck!
