:stirthepot: Well, Braydon had the sigmoidoscopy this morning. He did very well with the test itself. We will find out Friday if he is having allergic reaction to formula. GI doc went ahead and started him on Elecare today. As the day has worn on Braydon has gotten more fussy, will only take about 2 oz of Elecare, lots of crying, lots of stiffening of his legs, passing a lot of gas (which we knew he would) and is really spitting up "most of the bottle" within minutes after feeding. Can anyone tell me if this is to be expected due to the test, change in the formula, etc.? HELP!!!!

Do you think it is caused by the TEST?

Do you think it is caused by the ELECARE?

I'm so glad that test is over!!!

I would tend to think that the spitting up is being caused by a combination of things, first and foremost the pressure from the gas in his little intestines! They add additional air to expand the colon to get a good looksee. Anything in his tummy would have to be uncomforatble and I'm sure it would want to come bubbling up the hatch! The other factor may be from the quick switch in the formula. I really don't know much about that, but the quick change my be causing some discomfort.

All in all, I really think most of the upset is from the test.

I hope he feels better soon!

Hi Sandy, glad it wasn't too uncomfortable for him.

How does elecare differ from neocate? I thought you were heading to the neocate road.

Also.....When Brooke was on a different formula and it caused her bad gas, it made her reflux heaps worse, so I am hoping that is what is making your lil grandson so uncomoftable right at this moment, hopefully as he expels the air he will feel a lot better, then you can get a true reading of the new formula.

Hi Kimberley - We thought he was going to be put on Neocate also; but the doc decided to try him on the Elecare for a couple of days. Hopefullly, by tomorrow, he will be feeling much better after he expels all the gas. My daughter is giving him mylicon and gripe water to try to help with the gas. But so far, no luck. I'll keep you posted.

I'm glad everything went well and it wasnt too bad for him! Hopefully the gas is just from the test and he will feel better tomorrow. I wouldn't think that the Elecare would be causing it but I guess anything is a possibility. Keep us posted and I hope he feels better tomorrow!
