Sebastian is having a ph probe done on Monday. When the dr told me about it she said they would want him off his prevacid for a couple of days. When her nurse called me to set up the apt I asked how long he had to be off the prevacid and she said not to give it too him in the morning because he could not eat or drink before the test.
That did not seem right so I was planning not to give it to him at al on Sunday. Now I am wondering if he should get any today. I don’t want to keep him off it any longer then I have to, but if I am going to put him through this test I want to make sure we get an accurate result.
I am wondering what other people were told about this. Also do you think it would be ok to give him Mylanta today and Sunday or would that stay in him system too?

Minimum of 4 for the most accurate result. 7 is best. Since it is too late for either I would definitely not give it today, 3 days is better than nothing.

Thanks Carla. It is such a pain that we can not get the info. we need from the drs.
Do you know if it would mess things up if I gave him Mylanta today and tomorrow?

James didn't have to go off of his Prevacid for his probe. We had his probe done in early June and he was on 60 mg of Prevacid a day. His GI said he wanted to see if the Prevacid was working... and it was. No inflammation in James' esophagus (seen during the scope) and hardly any reflux on the probe. James' test seems to be one of the rare ones where they let him stay on his meds.
Sorry you can't get a straight answer from the doc. Hope the test goes well on Monday.

Noah stayed on the meds, too (30 mg). His GI (at the time) wanted to see how the Prevecid was working, and his test showed very little reflux as well. His other doctors haven't been as happy about that decision since Noah still has so many reflux symptoms but no clear answer about just how bad it is. I really wish we would have taken him off the meds, but I was following that doctors orders.
Good luck with the probe, Katey! Sebastian will do just fine! I hope that it gives some insight into his problems. Let us know what you find out!
