View Full Version : Please Read - Re: Marci-kids
This will not be discussed again. I am so tired of this.
For the record, yes, this is a public board, but it is private property. MY property. MY creation. MY thousands and thousands of hours of work. Not one silly weekend reading over information found on one website (like some newbies are doing), YEARS of work. Reading, listening, learning.
I WILL NOT (nor will my site or my members) be insulted, or disrespected for any reason. We have been providing, honest, NON-BIASED information to our visitors.
I have already stated my official views on Marci-Kids but will restate them for anyone who missed it:
First, no one was saying anything negative about Dr Phillips or Marci-Kids that required the need of him wasting his valuable time to defend himself. There was purely concern expressed by caring women, followed by information about him and Marci-Kids taken directly from their website.
Secondly, I would like to go on record as stating that I personally, and all of us at IRD, fully support and have great respect for Marci-Kids, Dr. Phillips and anyone else on the planet who is spending their time trying to find help for our kiddos. Goodness knows, they need it. I would also like to invite Dr Phillips and anyone else at Marci-Kids to participate on our boards, I'm quite sure their knowledge would be useful.
Having said that, the best drug available for children with reflux is the one that works best for each individual child and usually it's a matter of trial and error with the drugs, as well as the dosages.
I have personally provided links to Marci Kids both on the main website in the links directory, as well as in messages throughout the message boards. I, we (IRD) do NOT have a problem with Marci-Kids and/or Dr Phillips. No one here has said anything negative against them, or Zegerid, we have no reason to. We do not have a problem with anyone linking to them in their messages. It is the way in which these new members have shared their links and information that is the problem. We have rules and if they are not followed messages will be edited or removed. This is not a dictatorship, but a website that is moderated for the good of all that visit it. If anyone does not like this, they are welcome to find the information and support they need elsewhere.
I have NEVER with held information that might be valued to our visitors for ANY reason, nor do I intend to start now. The same can not be said for some of the esteemed websites that our new members are shoving down everyone throats. I have NEVER posted misinformation, or information based purely on "opinion". I spend a great deal of time making sure the information I provide is accurate and NON-BIASED! Again, I HAVE NOTHING TO GAIN by anything posted on this website so have no specific opinions about any medication, or treatment method. Except that, no one medication will work for EVERYONE. This is purely FACT, not opinion. THERE IS NOT A MIRACLE CURE OR MIRACLE MEDICATION FOR REFLUX.
In the name of Zegerid, over the course of the past two weeks have been the brunt of several new members with the audacity to hurl insults, and express great hostility towards us and I think everyone would agree this is childish and we are really having a hard time even understanding why. I have gotten to the point that I am really enraged by the whole thing and beginning to wonder why I have spent so much time creating this phenomenal place if it's so awful for our poor newbies.
If you can not have an intelligent, grown up conversation here, then please, we ask that you not come back. If I find one more person behaving this way, they will be immediately banned and I will begin to consider moderating all newbie posts before they are posted.
Lastly, I repeat, I WILL NOT (nor will my site or my members) be insulted, or disrespected for any reason. We have been providing, honest, NON-BIASED information to our visitors and that will not change b/c one pharmacist adds baking soda to Prilosec and calls it by a new name.
Mirra 07-25-2006, 06:57 PM Please do not consider limiting newbie posts. I don't know where all of these posts are coming from, I must have missed them.
Anyway, if people are hurling insults please just delete the posts and warn/ban or whatever you need to do. I just would not like to see new people be limited on being able to post.
It's bad enough having to deal with reflux, KWIM? :)
(wonders how she always misses the dirt)
ConnorsMommy 07-25-2006, 07:02 PM Roni, I just wanted to say please don't even wonder for a nano second why you created this place! Thank God you did because it has been my saving grace. The support I have found here is so wonderful and I can't thank you enough for all of your blood sweat and tears you put into it!
ZacsMom 07-25-2006, 07:05 PM Please do not consider limiting newbie posts.
I think she said monitoring newbie posts, not limiting.
Mirra 07-25-2006, 07:07 PM Hey...I never claimed I could read! :razzing:
Shaes Grammy 07-25-2006, 07:17 PM I, for one, wanted to say I am sorry Roni that you have had to deal with all this nonsense. I know that you are far too busy trying to make this a better place for all.
Bonnie, I am glad you missed "it" all b/c I don't like the idea of all our great members having to deal with/be involved with or hear about any of this nonsense either.
Let's get back to posting some fun, positive, silly, supportive, helpful stuff just like we use to....
Best wishes to all
Just wanted to add, the entire IRD site has been doctor reviewed and approved (except of course with the message board), check out the site map for the doctor's info..
ZacsMom 07-25-2006, 07:18 PM If you've missed it all, that means us mods have been doing our job, so that's great! ;)
Mirra 07-25-2006, 07:20 PM Apparently I do not "live" on here enough...and I thought I was the worst addict of us all! I shall have to remedy that! :razzing:
Shaes Grammy 07-25-2006, 07:32 PM Bonnie, I would say 1,920 since Feb 2006....you are definitely addicted. LMBO and I am glad you are!
HezBucks 07-25-2006, 07:42 PM Well, i missed them to, thats i guess why I asked what happened. The bad ones anyways....this site haskept me sane onmany sleepless nites, thework you guys do has helped tons of people.
Mirra 07-25-2006, 07:45 PM Jean.... :rolling: I am a sad, sad woman am I not? :D
I love this place...if it were not for this place I do not know that Mason would have been helped at all. The doc blew it off as colic and everyone thought me a paranoid mom. If it were not for this site, I wonder just how long my son's pain would have gone on and what kind of damage wouldhave been done.
Roni.....just ban any trolls and don't worry about it. I hope you know how much good you have done with this site. My son is a fat roley poley because of you! :D
Janette 07-25-2006, 07:51 PM If you've missed it all, that means us mods have been doing our job, so that's great! ;)
Well put, Sara, and thanks for dealing with this in such an eloquent manner, Roni. Let's get back to the fun here and continue to offer the caring support that we are known for.
sarahh 07-25-2006, 07:55 PM Hear hear Janette! My post count says it all........
I am so lucky to have you all as my extended family :grouphug:
AlexysandAaronsMom 07-25-2006, 08:04 PM I just want to say I dont know what i would have done without this site. Thanks!!! (((((hugs)))))
LaurensMommy 07-25-2006, 08:27 PM I missed all of this. However, I want to say thank you to Roni for creating this place and for all of her hard work in keeping it together. It has been and will continue to be my saving grace.
sixdogssixcats 07-25-2006, 08:32 PM Roni and everyone else here ... I wouldn't have come through the last 18 months as intact as I did without each and every one of you. Nowhere in my "real world" can I find a group of even 2 or 3 who really and I mean REALLY, has any clue what we've gone through. I love you guys!
BraydenandBrynasMom 07-25-2006, 09:48 PM I too missed this now that I am back at work and can't spend as much time on here as I'd like...However I can't say thank you enough to Roni for this site. I honestly looked at a few others before coming here, but they didn't help me in the manner I needed. I found this site later in the game, but learned how to deal with everything from everyone's advice...and I'm sure we wouldn't even know about their food allergies if I hadn't been here.
scarlet 07-25-2006, 10:16 PM Well I can tell you without this site I would be divorced and in a looney bin, honestly, I kept getting people telling me that it isn't reflux and that I was being over protective, it is really hard to find a Dr here who understands how bad this is, and if I hadn't had this site I wouldn't have even know there were tests or better treatments (except for the zantac I had been on for a year LOL)
Thank you so much for this site Roni. I see people come on here now going through the same things we went through and seeing them get help and see a difference is amazing, we help people- we help little kids- you have to feel so good at creating that.
BTW you have such a way of putting it,
We have been providing, honest, NON-BIASED information to our visitors and that will not change b/c one pharmacist adds baking soda to Prilosec and calls it by a new name.
I am at work and laughed so much that people looked at me.
EmmasMommy 07-25-2006, 11:13 PM To Roni and everyone else...thank you. You have helped me become a better mother, by sharing your experiences and knowledge about GERD, in more ways than you'll ever know. I am proud to be a part of this site, and proud to know each and every one of you.
:grouphug:
Emma, my husband, and I thank you.
OwensMom 07-26-2006, 01:19 AM Well I guess I missed all this while we moved and I'm glad I did.
Roni and everybody that is helping here on this site:Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for all the hard work that you put in to make this such a great place. I wouldn't have made it through all this as sane as I'm right now without you all. Especially during the time that Brian was deployed and I had really nobody to help me out.
I've missed all of this as well! But I wanted to thank Roni and everyone else! Without this board I don't know how I would have made it through the past year! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
Sam's Mom 07-26-2006, 07:25 AM Roni, I am not sure what/who sparked this, but do not take it personally. You have done an awesome job with IRD and have helped so many. The negative newbies seem to be the minority and should be ignored.
Thank you for providing me a place to learn, vent, and just have some fun.
Samuels mom 07-26-2006, 09:08 AM I missed all this as well, but I want to thank everyone for all their hard work they have done here. It is an awesome place to find the support I need. I am always quoting something on here for people who don't underdstand Sam's issues. I also have refferend many people here including some of Sam's doctors. This site was truely a blessing for my family. I wouldn't have ever been able to handle this on my own.
I love you guys!!! Thanks for being so understanding and providing such great information for us all!!
zapsmom 07-26-2006, 09:33 AM I,too, am very thankful for you, Roni! If it was not for this site, I didn't know what would have happened to Zoee or my sanity! I love this place and have made wonderful support friends who have not just helped with GErd issues but personal ones as well! So  for making this an amazing place!
Noah's Mom 07-26-2006, 10:00 AM I'm so glad that many of you *did* miss it. IRD is a positive, caring, and sometimes hysterical place to hang out, and I'm just so glad that we have so many wonderful members and are constantly attracting new ones! Roni, you've saved so many of us from insanity, LOL. Your website has changed my life. If I had to deal with GERD with just my "local support" a.k.a. family and friends, I'd be a bald and miserable person.
Katey 07-26-2006, 10:26 AM Hi, I just wanted to jump in as a newbie. I am sorry that there have been problems, but I hope it does not mess things up for the rest of us. I don't know why it took me so long to find this site, but it has been a big help the last few weeks.
I use other sites too and they are great, but this one is the most supportive and least judgmental/opinioniated that I have found.
I also love that I can ask stupid questions like what kind of car I should buy. Sometimes it is nice to focus on more then just reflux.
I am a stay at home mom in a town that I ahve only lived in for a year so I do not get much contact with the outside would.
I hope the trouble makers take the hint and go away. Why is it that some women always have to creat drama?
Mirra 07-26-2006, 10:50 AM Why is it that some women always have to creat drama?
LOL Katey, I don;t know why....you'd think that just dealing with reflux is enough drama! :D
Miori 07-26-2006, 01:47 PM Roni, thank you for all of the 1,000's of hours you have put in to create this wonderful community!
It is a shame that someone tried to change that, and I hope the message has gotten through to them...if not, kick them out of here! Sorry to sound harsh, but it's how I feel.
IRD has become a refuge for me, a community of support, friendship and fun. One of the main reasons I got through the past year was because of everyone here!
:grouphug:
brookesmum 07-26-2006, 09:32 PM I too would have been lost without this site, and it brings tears to my eyes knowing that I have such support here, and that someone cares enough not only about their own very sick gerdling, but about others affected by this too.
Debbie 07-27-2006, 09:17 PM I also have no clue what is going on and I also don't care to know (who needs negativity?)....Like everyone else here, I am so greatful for this site.....This is the place that saved my grandson from the pain he suffered..I can never thank you enough for putting this out there for me to find. We took the info from this site to Jaydens DR and said this is what is wrong with him!!! Look it up! For any one person who has suffered and watched thier child suffer to be so unselfish to take your time create a place like this for others is one amazing person, and I know you didn't do this looking for gratitude, but man do you have it!!! I would say that every time someone posts on this site that should be concidered a thank you to you Roni!!!!
Noah's Mom 07-27-2006, 10:03 PM Hi, I just wanted to jump in as a newbie. I am sorry that there have been problems, but I hope it does not mess things up for the rest of us. I don't know why it took me so long to find this site, but it has been a big help the last few weeks.

Katey, we're glad you like us ! Stupid questions are always welcome at IRD!
BTW, Sebastian is such a little stud!
AvasMommy 07-27-2006, 10:16 PM Geez Louise you guys, I was only gone for like 4 days? What kind of ruckus has been raised?!?!?!
As a new zegerid user, let me state that for the record, it is day 5 and I am less than impressed. We are not on Dr. Phillips' recommended dosage, but it's so high that I honestly think that Ava would poop out all of her internal organs if she were to take as much mylanta as the full dosage would entail.
This site has improved my sanity tenfold, and I feel so lucky to have found it and become a part of it, even though my dh wonders why I can't just get off line and talk to him for a minute. I'm addicted! The information has been extremely helpful, and in no way biased in presentation. I've learned so much from being here such a short time, and I just want to thank everyone who has made me feel so welcome! Lots of love, ladies, you're so much more understanding than my "real" friends, lol!
scarlet 07-27-2006, 10:27 PM Lindsay I am so sorry that it isn't working yet, I have been thinking about you guys so much while you were away. I suppose thats the point here, it would be so easy for me to say, are you mad, prilosec is the best- well it is the best for us, but not everyone, this is one thing I learnt wearly on, if it was as easy as a miracle cure we would all be on it.
I was just going to add, that seeing as you were on the prilosec for 2 weeks and now the zegrid, these medicines are the same pretty much so you should have seen some improvement by now- I still have my fingers crossed though let us know how she is going.
Cam's sahm 07-27-2006, 10:32 PM Who's Dr. Philips? IRDeeeDERdee. Waiting for pm update.....

Shaes Grammy 07-28-2006, 05:23 AM A pharmacist that invented Zegerid (see info site menu). We do have a link to the site.
ZacsMom 07-28-2006, 08:05 AM I wanted to add that not ONLY has IRD kept my sanity during my darkest reflux hours...but it's also the reason by house is not clean.
:4: :24: :38: :39: :5:
Debbie 07-28-2006, 10:21 AM I wanted to add that not ONLY has IRD kept my sanity during my darkest reflux hours...but it's also the reason by house is not clean.
:4: :24: :38:
LMAO!!!!!
And my dh thinks I'm nuts on the internet till the weeee hours!!!!!
scarlet 07-28-2006, 10:26 AM ....and the reason my kids get away with drawing on the walls while I am IRDing, yeah uh, thanks Roni!
Miori 07-28-2006, 12:01 PM I wanted to add that not ONLY has IRD kept my sanity during my darkest reflux hours...but it's also the reason by house is not clean.
:4: :24: :38: :39: :5:
:rolling: So true, Sara!! :rolling:
ConnorsMommy 07-28-2006, 03:52 PM I wanted to add that not ONLY has IRD kept my sanity during my darkest reflux hours...but it's also the reason by house is not clean.
:4: :24: :38: :39: :5:
:rolling: boy isn't that the truth:D
Emily M 08-05-2006, 10:38 AM Roni, I appologize for not responding to this faster. I have been up to my ears in the convention forum.
Just a thank you to you for working so very hard on this website.
Like everyone else has already said, it has also been my saving grace, it is the reason I would not take no for an answer from our first ped. and I kept on and on until finally they tried him on med. and boy am I glad that I did. I have a different baby.
And, not to mention all of the friends that I have made. They mean so very much to me, I can't begin to tell you, it is truely like extended family, I think of everyone of you and your children on a daily basis.
So, thank you Roni and I am sorry that all of this came about, but know that you didn't waste your time, your website and info has truely touched many of us and helped us through!
I missed all the "funny" posts, altough I am not sure how that happened...I thought I knew everything.
Like Rachel already said, I would be a single mother of two if it was not for this forum, that saved my sanity and my marriage. It means the world to me and I have a different view on my baby girl too.
Thank you Roni and all the ladies that provide support, advice and fun here everyday!!
God Bless You All.
Roni
