Well we have the EEG tomorrow and Parker has to stay up late, it is now 10.40pm (usually in bed at 7pm) and he is perfectly fine, just playing happily. Not grumpy or tierd at all. Shouldn't he be tierd or showing signs of tierdness???? do any of your kids stay up late and show no tierd signs...just wondering, Cooper always had definate tierdness signs, but Parker never has.

Hobbes never does and He can stay up till 2am and not show any signs of being tired! Can you just say bedtime and will he go?

Thats the strange thing, he goes to bed no problems, if we didn't have to stay up for this test he would be asleep, so I am seeing a new side, well it is almost 11.30 now and he is still going strong LOL, but he is allowed to sleep now, so we are both going to go to bed.

I have one of those video moniters, I am going to check him out to to see how he goes.

Will Hobbes go to bed when he is told or is it always a struggle?

Hi Rachel

How did it go?
Zach gets very tired easily...after a long day of playing outside etc
BUT after dinner and after Daddy gets home he seems WIDE awake, wired/happy
When we put him to bed about 7:00 he doesn't seem tired AT ALL
Dh is always wanting to keep him up later...regardless he never fights us, we've had the same bedtime ritual since he was little
The only problem I've encountered with keeping him up later, is he wakes the same time, and is actually more tired in the am

How did it go and why does he need an EEG? What did I miss? :19:

The only sign Zac shows when he's tired is heavy eyelids. He does not "typically" get cranky or beside himself. I have no clue how late he'd stay up if I let him...but the good thing is, when I put him in bed, he goes to sleep...w/in a half an hour.

Mike has always been able to stay up late. Even when he was little. He never got fussy the only way you could tell was his eyes would get red around them. He still stays up until ungodly hours of the night. Especially since it's summer and schools out. There have been nights I've walked by his room to feed Connor at 2am and he was awake. As a baby he would go to sleep with no problem but I would say around 2 or 3 years old I couldn't get him to go to bed before 10pm. Connor is the opposite, you defiently know when he's tired and he can't go even 1/2 hour past his bedtime. How did the test go???

Thanks all, I am glad I don't have the only night owl LOL. Its just the same as Sara, I put him down and he goes to sleep, but it seems if I don't put him down he wouldn't care, Maybe he just needs less sleep? Who knows.

Well the EEG was today and it was horrible, I have just had enough of testing, the test itself wasn't so bad, but he was twitching so much while he was sleeping,m even the nurse commented, I wanted this all to be in my head KWIM? I wanted her to say, you are being silly, that is normal night time twitches.

(BTW the EEG was for his night/sleep twitching (which can go for hours) and a couple of blank out stares he has had)

I don't think it is epilepsy though, but you never know, I hope the neurologist can get enough from it cause I think I have had it with tests for a long time.

Aww poor Parker, I can imagine that you have had enough of testing. I feel the same way.
Sorry that he did have those twitches but at least now they might be able to figure out why he gets them.
Owen is the same way with sleep, if I don't put him down he'll be up forever.

Sarah we get the results Tuesday, the day before we leave, I hope they are ready for us by then and that they are OK.

Well, this is what I have read, they get tird, then they don't go to sleep, so they get that second wind, so to speak, and can stay up for 2 more hours than normal.:coffee:

How did it go, did he crash when you put him to bed.

The funny thing is he woke at 4.30am and wouldn't go back to sleep, Dan had to get up and stay with him.

I knew he wouldn't sleep for the test so the neurologist suggested Benedryl as it doens't affect the test, they put the wires on and then he was out in 2 minutes.

I get the second wind a lot Em, maybe he is like me LOL

Sorry you've had a tough time of it, Rachel. I missed this thread somehow, just not on much. On the plus side, if his EEG is normal ( and I hope that it is) because he did have the twitching while he slept, you can feel confident that it isn't seizure related. I mean, if he happened to not twitch during the test, and it is was normal you might always wonder if it was just that they didn't catch it.

I hope it is compeletly normal, and not matter what the results, feel free to pm me if need to. You know I have experience with this.

Thanks Melissa, thats how I have been justifying it, that at least he did do the twitching and that it is a true test, maybe the Dr will just say well they are normal for him and thats that, what put me off was **I asked the nurse and she said that it was a lot more that is normal** why did I ask. She did also say it was rare for these type of twitches to be seisure related- but that has gone over my head for now.

I just hate waiting, I am not very good at it. To be honest, I actually don't think it is epilepsy and if it was I know it isn't the end of the world, it is the "oh I don't know what that is, here have more tests" that is getting to me.

Oh and I might as well add that I am feeling really bad right now too cause of something the neurologist said, he asked if I had any gastro type bugs when I was pregnant and I had, I remember it clearly cause I rang the hospital and they said it would be OK. Now I am thinking maybe I had a bug that gave him something, pretty irrational I know but my mind just goes into overdrive, ugh I need sleep.

You probably missed this thread cause it was a funny thing that Parker was up and about, I meant to do an update but this thread became it LOL.

I know it is easier said than done, but try to put everything they said out of your head for now. Dwelling on it isn't going to change anything. Having said that, if it were me I would be nuts before tuesday! You are in the right frame of mind, though. If it *is* a form of eplielpsy, it isn't the end of the world and at least you know now. You don't have to worry about other tests to figure out if it is something else. Plus, it is most likley a form that can easily be controlled by meds. I practically even forget that DH has seizures.

Okay, enough talking about it. We can talk about it when you get the results. Hopefully, it is just normal for him and we never have to think about it again! When is it tuesday there? I don't know what the time change is...lol. It is 12:19 pm, Weds. here right now. I am leaving for vacation Fri. and won't be back until tuesday. I will be checking as soon as I get back for the results. Let us know as soon as you know.

I'm just sending you a big hug, I've been absent and missed your anxiety about this EEG. I am a terrible friend. :(

I'm sure that everything will be fine.
