My mother suggested this to me today. She met someone whose baby really benefitted from seeing a chiropractor for reflux. They manipulated the head instead of the spine or something??? Anyways, I have a call into a local chiropractor to see if they think they can help. My pediatrician will probably think I've lost it when he hears this, but I'm willing to try anything at this point. Has anyone had good success w/taking their baby to a chirpractor for reflux?

I have not tried this, but I have heard it can work. Also that baby massages can work as well.

If you decide to try this, let us know how it works!:hello2:

I talked to a chiroprater and he thought that it would be very beneficial for Sam. I don't reallyknow though. I have seen them for myself, and seen no difference. Maybe it would work?? I don't know?

Sorry I wasn't much help, but I know that this has been posted on before. Maybe do a search for it?

Dont take this as a recommendation, this is just our story....
I am currently taking my daughter to a chiro.
My daughter is 5 months old and has had only three treatments so far.
He also put us on proboiotics and swears that after a couple of more treatments she'll improve if not will be cured.
I was very sceptical at first, but he told me that babies should not be "cracked" so to speak, but gently manipulated. Massaged like around the vertabrae that is responsible for stomach and intestinal functions.
And that when they are manipulated gently, if reflux is present than the baby either will burp or have a bowl movement. Well, my daughter had both. She improved dramatically after the second treatment, but went back, if not worse after the third. He said that though - it will get worse before it gets better.
Also, my sister-in-law (lives in England) took her baby to the Chief of pediatric chiropractors with severe reflux and after three treatments they were cured.
So, I am very optimistic and hope that my baby is one of the once that will be cured.

I have beeen taking anna to the chiropractor since she was 3 days old. It really does help the reflux as well. Much less bad days. We were doing once per week, and we are down to every other week now. Make sure you go to a GOOD chiro, that specializes in pediatrics......

I started taking Jackson when he was probably about 4 months old. We had to go once a week for a while, then it moved to every 2 weeks, then longer in between. I can totally see a difference.
I didn't right at first, but now I know when he needs to go, he starts spitting up again. After he goes, he doesn't even have wet burps.
Yet, I am still a chicken and will not take him off of his meds. lol

So, if you feel comfortable with it, try it. Go with your gut.

We took Maia yesterday. This chiro specializes in the "grostic" method, which is no-cracking basically from what I can tell. It is all about the neck, too...he doesn't even seem to work on the lower veretbrae. Is that normal for treating reflux? Is there a lower vertebra that should be looked at also to treat this condition? I am so skeptical of chiropractors, so I know nothing about this.

This chiro does both adults and children. I'm wondering if I should have looked around more for one that is just pediatric. Anyways, he said that some nerve in her neck was pinched from a traumatic birth. It is true that she had a traumatic birth (she was sunny-side up and fully descended at an odd angle). I ended up having a c-section under general anesthesia after some pushing with her positioned like that. Anyways, whatever he did was gentle. We're taking her back today for a recheck.

We also stopped the Prevacid yesterday to see if this is working. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, because the Prevacid has an awful side effect of causing Maia to projectile vomit anytime she has even a minute amount of solids. That is just too scary for us. We wonder if we are doing her harm with that medication. Well, I'll give updates on whether or not the chiro is helping!

Well, our chiro said that there is a vertabrae in the midspine, that 's responsinle for digestion. He massaged around there. I heard 4 clicks.
He never said anything about the neck.
In what area are your babies being adjusted? Neck or spine????

Just curious.

My DD is being adjusted in the neck (the "atlas"?). It's the Grostic (sp?) method of adjustment, which is very gentle and doesn't involve any popping or cracking at all, though. We had to go for a recheck today, and I asked about the lower vertebra where other chiros seem to work on reflux. He explained that the method that he uses focuses on the atlas because the body then heals itself elsewhere when that is in balance??? I don't profess to understand (or believe) in this stuff, but I'm willing to try it at this point if it gets Maia off the Prevacid.

There is a lot of new research about the effects of Chiropractic and massage care in healing of many different kinds of ailments....To the point that Ins Co are now accepting them for Medical care.. My DD Steph is a Massage Theropist and I know in her training they had a whole seminar on the effects of message on Aids patients and how it is accutally a huge bennifit to thier health. I'm not sure of the details but I woudn't count either of them out.

yes, it is the t-5, I believe, it affects all of the area around the stomach.
Mine does "crack" Jackson, at first I kind of flipped out, but now it is nothing and he never, ever cries. (Lower back I meant to say as well)
