When we are at home, my dd eats the ready to feed Alimentum (I also warm the bottle) and when we are out, I use the powder with room temperatue water that I put in her bottle before we leave.

If we are at home, she'll eat great - her whole bottle of Alimentum RTD with no problems - it's great cause she hasn't eaten her whole bottle without screaming in a while!! If we are out and about, she'll eat about 2 oz (if I'm lucky) and then start to scream. Its like she wants to eat but won't.

I don't know if there is a taste difference that she isn't liking or if she is a creature of habit and doesn't like eating in different surroundings????

Does anyone else use RTF at home? If so, what do you use when you are out and about?

I've seen on their website that they make the 4 oz single serve Alimentums so I'm going to try and find them and see if that works but I was just wondering if anyone else might have this problem and what they did??

Thanks!

well, I'd agree that warm milk tastes totally different than cold milk...also warm green beans vs cold....I warm all her bottles....at first when she would get a bottle made on the road she was like, "what is this?" As it got warmer out side she took them better...I keep bottled water in my trunk and it's usually warm. You can try warm packs for the water in a seperate bag....I think they have some insulated bags for hot/cold stuff.

Oops just reread your post....you don't mix...warm packs with bottle. :)

There *is* a distinct difference between the Alimentum RTF and powderr! Have you noticed the difference in smell? The powder is awful! Noah would never take it either, and it actually contains corn products, which can be hard to digest.

While on Alimentum, I always just made up bottles with the RTF and kept them in the cooler. If you can predict when she is hungry, you can simply pull a bottle from the cooler 30 minutes before you think she'll eat and it will have warmed up in time. Bottles of formula are good for 4 hours at room temperature as long as the baby hasn't sucked from it yet. After she takes that first suck, its good for one hour. I hope this helps! Its hard traveling with RTF!

Hi

I was also going to say I know there is an ing. in the powder that is NOT in the RTF and it seems some kids only do well with RTF (what we used with both kids...never tried powder)
I would TRY to work around her schedule and like another poster said, make a bottle and take it with you, but try to use within 1hr...
I would also carry a bottle (with a cold pack) with me and ask someone to heat it up...but that is getting tougher and tougher.
I really wish they made a good bottle warmer!

i always used rtf alimentum, and i either bought the 8oz cans of RTF , or you can get 4oz glass bottles, but they are pretty pricey. You can get both at babies r us, or off of the similac website. You dont have to keep them cold, and if i didnt need the full 8 oz in the can i poured half of it in a bottle and put the other half in a bottle with a lid (good for 4 hours).

I would use the RTF, keep it in a cooler or like my diaper bag came with an insulated side you stick an icepack in and either pull it out ahead of time to get it room temp or buy one of those travel bottle warmers. You stick it right into your car lighter.

We use Nutramigen, but I do know that my little one DEFINITELY drinks less when we are in public. She is in a different surrounding and is too distracted to eat. When she was younger (around 3 months) she would completely refuse bottles in public. Now that she is starting solids, it has been a little easier.
