Hi, our ped suggested yesterday and I thicken my dd formula - tsp per ounce. She is currently using the DB bottles with the stage one nipples (she's 12 weeks old). The nurse said I shouldn't have to switch nipples cause the formula will still be really thin. We tired a feeding yesterday and didn't go well at all (she screamed the whole time, I think she didn't like the taste or something). I just tired again a little whille ago and thank goodness it went really well - she finished her bottle! It took her a while, but she did. I know her formula isn't thick enough for the cereal nipples, but do you think I should swtich to stage two or three when feeding her the thickened formula? It did take her a while to finish the bottle, it didn't seem like she was struggling, but it seemed like she almost got kind of "bored" with it.

Thanks (sorry for all the thickening questions today - something new so I always have millions of questions!)

My daughters formula was pretty thick and if we put it in the blender we could use a level 3 but if we just made a bottle on the go we used a Y-cut.

If she is having trouble you could do one of two things... make up a batch of formula and add the cereal and blend it in the blender OR try a level two nipple. You are using a small amount of cereal so it might just be worth it for you to grab a level 2 nipple.

Oh, I do want to say that if she is not having trouble getting it out and is just drinking slow, then it might be better for her reflux to have the formula going down a bit slower. But she shouldnt be sucking too hard on the nipple or that could make her a little gassy and crabby too!

Hope that helps! Good luck!
