My dd is having a horrible time feeding. She'll eat about 2 ounces, then she has to burp (I try to wait as long as I can to burp her, but she gets really squirmy after 2 ounces and I have to). Well, after she burps, she wants nothing more to do with the bottle. She isn't crying when she burps, but as soon as she sips the bottle a couple of times, she cries. She wants to eat, but obviously it's hurting.

I called the dr. and her meds are at the limit :bs: He suggested thickening her formula with cereal. OK.....one tsp per ounce. Well, I tired it yesterday and she SCREAMED! She wouldn't take the bottle at all. I did get some down, but it seriously too me an hour. Do you think she can taste it and doesn't like it? I tried with two bottles yesterday and had the same reaction for both. I'm going to try it again this morning and see how it goes. Do you think maybe I should gradually add the cereal so she gets used to it? Like add an tsp in one bottle and gradually increase??? I feel horrible for my littlb baby. Obviously her meds aren't working.....

What worked for Maya and I know its not the same for all babies was a commercial thickener we have in the UK called "Thick and Easy" not sure what the equivalent is over there, but know there is one. We used the recomended amount on the packet and also hand blended it with her formula to get a consistency that didn't block her size 3 Dr Brown nipple. This really did the trick with Maya.

I just want to mention that most parents of refluxers were/are/probably should be burping every ounce. In the beginning the told us to do that...
