I got a call from my FIL that he had to get Hobbes from nursery today. According to his teacher and one on one helper, he wasplaying in gym, running around when he all of a sudden, started coughing so bad thathe was just about puking. His worker has picked him up and rubbed his back till he stopped. Well, it is less than 4 minutes from his coughing fit and he was out. He was sleep. So they called my Fil to come and get him from class. Since then he has been coughing up a storm, every 15 to 30 minutes he is coughing to the point of having problems stopping. Okay, he does have a cold but he has had cold before and not cough like this especailly when playing or running. I have asthma and when my Fil told me about Hobbes' coughing fit.I though right away of the ones that I have had that had me coughso bad that I went tosleep after a coughing fit.
So my question is...Does this sound like it could be asthma to you? See the dr on Friday. Just want something to go in with.

Sounds definately like asthma to me, I would get him looked at. My boys asthma gets a lot worse when they are sick too.

That is what I thought as well but I was not sure...Do your boys wheeze or just have very bad coughing attacks? With my asthma, I didn't wheeze..I have the bad coughing attacks.

My kids have night coughing and don't really have attacks- touch wood. Parker takes a preventer every day, Cooper has it only when he is sick now.
If they are sick the dose doubles and ventolin (I think your albuterol) gets used.
I have found probiotics to be really good at keeping it at bay (as wel as ear infections), my dr reccommended it.

YES! It sounds like exercised induced asthma. If there is no audible wheeze even with a stethoscope, it could be cough variant asthma, which means they cough and cough and cough with no audible wheeze, and nothing takes it away except for a breathing treatment with something like xoponex. My daughter has cough variant asthma, and my son may have allergic asthma. Both get it with a cold which is considered reactive airway disease. All these terms! It just gives you the words to look up if you want to learn more about it. I always do that because it helps me make my list of questions for the doctor. Let us know how it goes!

Shannon,
I've responded to your post on G'Moms, and since my response was lengthy enough, I'll just let you read it there without reposting here, okay?
