Hi there,
I've posted on the sleep board about my 16 mth old's ongoing sleep issues. We've seen a paed who has prescribed domperidone, which is just a motility drug (we're in the UK), but has not suggested any other reflux meds, nor has he even suggested doing any tests like a ph probe. Should I be pushing to have a test done? He's not vomitting anymore, but still has cold symptoms that come and go and the nights are just horrendous. I feel that if I at least knew if he is experiencing reflux pain at night or not, then I would have a better idea of how to tackle the sleepless nights and would also know whether to ask that he be given proper reflux meds at night for the pain. Should I be asking to see a reflux expert, rather than just a paed (the one I've been seeing specialises in respiratory issues. We initially saw him, due to the ongoing cold like symptoms, bronchiolitis etc). Will having a ph probe done give me the info i need about my son? Is it a horrible thing for him to go through? It all seems to be so wishy washy, vague in this country! The paed says, the fact the vomitting has stopped due to the domperidone would suggest he probably has experienced reflux. I guess if he wasn't such a bad sleeper, I wouldn't be that worried, but I can't help but think something strange is going on at night!
Any advice?
Thanks so much for listening
Beth
