I'm curious as to which formula you have found works best for your reflux baby. Currently Julia is on Enfamil AR. She has been on it for about 4 weeks and it has helped, but I've been hearing good things about Neocate and wonder if this might help reduce her screaming fits?!?!

Connor has been on Neocate since he was about 2 months old after finding out he had a Milk Soy Protien Intolerance. It has made a huge difference for him! He use to get horrible gas and loose bm's on both milk based and hypo formulas. It is very $$$ though! We pay around $256.00 every 3 weeks for it. Have you tried one of the Hypo formulas like Netramagin or Allimentum? I would start with one of those first and see if they help before going the Neocate route!

Neocate is usually for kids with milk and soy issues... if the Enfamil AR is working then I would stick with it. If you want to try a Hypo Formula then you could go with Similac Alimentum or Enfamil Nutramigen...
My daughter has been on Alimentum (and nutramigen) since she was a month old and has done very well on it. We have tried several times to switch her back and she starts to reflux more and puke more.
If you do switch remember it can take a good two weeks to notice a difference when changing formulas. The system needs to clear itself of the other formula and get used to the new one... so that can also cause a flare.
Anyway, hope that helps... good luck!

We are on Neocate, have been since Easter Sunday. It has really really helped. We did try Allimentum first, didnt work. Neocate is pricey, but worth it.

we're lucky and don't have any intollerances but carrots and peaches so far...did enfamil reg, then gentlease, nutramigen (she didn't drink it at all), ar wouldn't drink that either, then good start (which she is currently on, She usually silent refluxes, I see the milk in her mouth mostly, but our meds are awesome rightnow and she's usually pretty good...today was bad..lots of fists in the mouth but I think it was solid related...we tried a new cereal...she may just need adjusting...don't know. It's all trial and error..hang in there!

Hey there Ginette, do you notice the fists in her mouth alot? Is is just when she is in pain? Does she cry too? Anna is constantly doing this, and gagging herself, barfing. It sucks the big one.

Yes, I'm not a GI but I know with all my heart that she refluxes more when she swallows too much (forget that) ANY air! I know that on our good or great days, I don't hear a sound when she eats. Other days, if she's too excited to eat or I didn't burp her long enough (an hour) or when it just doesn't come out...she can't keep her hands out of her mouth or fingers our of her throat, until she spits-up (sometimes 10 times) usually 3-4 it varies sooooo much. FOR US, her discomfort is directly related to how much air she's swallowed.
I don't think she's in pain when doing this because she's not screaming anymore, our meds are working great on the acid.
I do, believe she's very uncomfortable though, the grunting breaks my heart...after everything both of you have gone though...it just a reminder that she's still not completely ok yet kwim?
Today, I got super sick of hearing her grunting and twisting and shoving...I put her in her jumperoo to see if it would make her spit up! LOL Don't judge!Didn't work so I put her in the bath...seems to REALLY relax her.
Dang I blab a lot...sorry I've been so winded lately...I don't know what's come over me???:burp:

My daughter was on Alimentum to start now she is on Enfamil Ar and what a difference it has made. Do you use dr brown bottles? It might be the amount of air she is taking in.

My daughter was on Enfamil AR and it didn't do a whole lot. It helped a little, but the best formula that we used was Good Start, then when we thickened it with rice cereal, I found it was way better than Enfamil AR.
