Hello all,
Just wondering if any of you have heard of this program, and or experienced it or something similar. Here are the details as I know it. Any comments welcomed.

Parents behind 1 way mirror
Kids together (age appropriate) with a buffet and they choose foods with feeding therapists
There are also therapists with the Parents (behind the 1 way mirror)
There are medical personnel (specialists) on call to ensure hydration, nutrition etc.
By day 6 the kids are starting to eat
There is NO tube feeding during any of this
The families stay there
The tubes come out at the end and the families go home!
They deal with an array of disorders/diseases
Dr. Jean Wittenberg (Toronto Sick Kids Hosp) has been over to visit this program in Austria twice and wants to set this up in Canada (in Toronto). He is looking for letters of support. I have offered to write one.
There is a team of psychologists, OT, pediatricians, psychiatrists, dieticians etc=all under one roof/one room (and the families are inpatients vs. a similar Washington program with Dr. Irene Shateur (spelling?) which does the same thing but not as inpatients).

Never heard of it. And I find it hard to believe the kids start eating by day 6. But there must be something to it, I guess. Have you done this program with Lariss?

There's a doctor here that likes to work with kids through on an in-patient basis. Apparently she has them off of tube feeds within a week. I think I'm afraid of her.

I have never heard of it, but hey 6 days it is worth a try even! I suppose it must depend on the type of feeding problem the kids have? Let us know what you find out.

I am highly suspicious of the program. But I thought a while back I read something here, where someone had participated in something down California way. I use the Marsha Dunn Klein approach, and as I have seen huge gains, that is where I am putting my money. I also guess I am afraid of doing anything that might put Larissa back into the dire straits she was in originally. Call me chicken, call me conservative.

Anyway if any of you can think of a similar program in the States, that I could compare this with I would be grateful.
