Do you use the Wide neck or the regular bottles? Has anyone had better luck with one or the other? We tryed the wide neck bottles, she drinks ok out of them but still gets to much air, i dont think her latch is that great on them. We are using a #3 nipple with the blended cereal. She couldnt get anything out of a #2. We are now trying the playtex nursers with the natural latch latex nipple, she gets much better latch on these and the gas is so much better. But last night after her bottle she gaged alittle, like she was refluxing again, she is also alittle squirmy again while feeding. Do you think its the bottle? We also went to the doctor yesterday, she now has thrush....do you think that is causing the discomfort? should i be worried about using the latex nipples with the thrush since you can not sterilize them in a sterilizer?

We also had a latch problem and went from dr b to playtex/latex with great success!! I'm not framiliar with thrush but someone may chime in with some sugestions here. Have you called your ped to ask? Maybe just soak the nipples in extreemely hot soapy water?

On Ginette's suggestion, we also switched to the nurser's with the latex nipple and it mage a HUGE difference. He won't even touch the Dr.B's anymore.
Mason also had a bad case of thrush. It sucks dealing with that and it can be painful. Mason had a LOT of pain from it and it got into his esophagus. Did they give you anything for it?

We actually had latch issues with the Platex Natural latch bottles/nipples I think those are better for kids going between breastfeeding and bottles... at least in my opinion.
We had MUCH better success with the Dr B's standard bottles/nipples... she was getting much less air.

I use latex, and I put them in the diswasher on occasion on the sanitize setting, even though it says to hand wash. I do it about 1 time a week. All using the diswasher does or boiling the nipples does is shorten their life, because rubber wears out faster than silicone. Since she has thrush, I would boil them or put them in the dishwasher and if they get worn quicker, you may have to buy new ones.Typically, a latex nipple is only supposed to last 3 months. I get that much out of them, even sterilizing them 1 time a week.
The gagging very likely could be from the thrush. I had it after I had Em because of all the antibiotic I had with the c-section. I gagged on everything. I would imagine, that a kid that refluxes, or pukes easily, if gagged will reflux more.
I hope she gets over the thrush quick and easy.

I will absolutly boil/sterilize everything then, even the latex nipples. I dont mind buying new latex nipples, I just wasnt sure why they say not to boil or sterilize them. I just tryed to switch her back to the dr browns wide neck bottles ( That way i wouldnt have to worry about the whole latex nipple thing while she is getting rid of the thrush) But she would have nothing to do with it. lol I guess its good in a way, ive been trying to find something she likes and now ive found it! :) I thought about going to get a dr browns standard bottle to try it, atleast until we are over the thrush. But I would hate to ruin what we got going here, she's finally happy with a bottle!
They did gave me some med. for the thrush, its called Nystatin. They told me to give it to her 4 times a day for a week and it should be gone. Keep our fingers crossed that its that easy :)
