Anyone have their critter get nosebleeds when increased on flovent? He is also on ventolin as well but has had a hefty increase in flovent recently.

I was on it while pregnant, and didn't get any nosebleeds. I got horrible nosebleeds with Nasonex (a nasal spray).

Just my experience, though. :hello2:

Parker has only had one nosebleed in his life and I don't think it co-incided. He started on a hefty dose and we have reduced it now to a comfortable dose, how many nosebleeds are you talking, cause if they are all around the same time, it could be the same nosebleed not fully repaired if you KWIM.

Trey used to get nosebleeds all the time when he was on the stuff ... and they'd last for days. No joke. You can have his nose cauterized if the bleeding is too inconvenient. It's a quick but slightly painful process. We used to have to have Trey's nose cauterized about every 6-8 months for years, but he seems to have outgrown his propensity for nosebleeds.

By the way ... don't use any nose sprays that contain alcohol if you're prone to nosebleeds. They'll exacerbate the problem. Better to not use any nose sprays at all if they can be avoided.

My oldest was on flovent for 4 yrs and she would get the most horrible nosebleeds that would go on for hours. She was finally taken off and put on advair. She has not had a nosebleed in about 3 years.

Thanks. Iain is still getting over his ear, chest and throat infection and seems better as of yesterday (on the road to recovery for sure, but still quite chesty). He was upped to flovent 125 2 puffs 4X daily and that is quite a bit. We have a stronger puffer and a weaker one but I have not had to do this 4X daily before. Mind you, when he was at his worst last year he ended up at the hospital for treatments anyway, so perhaps it is all the same regardless. This was to prevent oral steroids or so I was told. Now he is on 2 puffs 2X daily again plus ventolin as needed.

Today is going to 40 C with the humidex. Air quality is an oxymoron here today...

Cauterized, Lesley? Crap!

I hope Iain is feeling better, Leigh! {{{HUGS}}} to Mr. Iain!

Evan is on Salbutamol, Flovent and Nasonex. The Nasonex helps the acid burn in his nose and is supposed to help decrease the nosebleeds for him. I've never thought of whether or not there's a connection between his frequent nose bleeds and the meds. he's on, but I kind of doubt it, as he still gets lots of nose bleeds without the meds. Dry winter weather (indoors) seems to be the worst for nose bleeds for both of my boys.
