It's been 2 months (I think) since zac has nursed and I STILL HAVE MILK! How long does this process take anyway?!

I backed off of pumping pretty quickly and never had a problem with milk surprises. But I bet that's pretty different -- no emotional triggers/letdown, etc.

You're quick, Becky! LOL
Anyway, well...I don't have an "surprises" per say. I think I still "drip" if I have pressure against my chest though (so maybe that IS a surprise) LoL.
On occassion I pinch to see if I still have milk...and YEP...sure do! LOL
What was REALLY funny is how soon they forget. A couple weeks back, Zac was congested and not feeling too well so I attempted to nurse, just to see if he would take it. HA! He attempted, and then backed away w/this WIERD look on his face and just started poking, so I said "ooooKAY...I guess not." LOL

I lost my milk both times, so I never really had to worry about this. HOWEVER my sister-in-law had milk 3 years after weaning...but then she did essentially nurse for 5 years straight (she had 3 girls two years apart) And one of my employees had to take pills to dry out when she had milk two years later...So I think everyone is different

Sara it could be months (6 or more), especially when you are in the shower you will notice it. Although it looks like a lot it isn't much (probably still ssquirts), the production is decreasing.

I only was able to nurse Jonathan for 3 weeks but I was still occasionally leaking when he was almost 3yrs old . I guess it's different for everybody, we'll see how long it takes once Owen stops nursing.

3 yrs?! OMGoodness! At this rate, I'll be leaking for quite some time as I plan to have another (if we do) it will be before 3 years from now!
DH, on occassion, will ask me "Are the girls still leaking?" LOL

LOL, it does dry up a lot, but it is always there KWIM, if you are planning another, I don't think that it will dry up, mine didn't between Cooper and Parker and I fed Cooper till he was one!

I'm still nursing B before bedtime; however, she will only take the right breast. She hasn't nursed from the left one in over a month...yet the left one is still making milk. I notice it the most when I'm in the shower, just like Rachel said.

My case might be different, as both are probably still making milk even though only one tap is being used. :-)

No experience here, but my mom told me it took her a year to lose it completely. Yikes!
