Hello all I don't post much here but I do read a lot and it has helped us come to the point we are at now. Tyler will be getting a gtube and fundo tomorrow. I am getting stressed as the time comes closer. I am just hoping that this is the right thing for him, I know the NG tube was not a good choice for him. I will update you all when he is home.

Daniel had a G tube placed last summer, and it was not too bad. I was worried about how to hold him and comfort him afterwards, but he didn't seem too sore. He even slept on his stomach that night.

Be sure to update us when you're home!

I am so sorry he has to get the fundo but it is not a decision I am sure you came to lightly. I will be thinking of you tomorrow and let us know how it goes. {{{hugs}}}

Hello All-
I am posting this for Amy aka *andbabymakessix* and little Tyler. I just got the call from Amy that Tyler is out of surgery and still under. He is currently in the Special Care Nursery (CICU).

He went into the surgical unit at 9:45am and was done a little after 12:15pm or so. He was able to get the full fundo done (which was at first questioned), had a hernia repaired, had the G-tube placed and then there was a little surprise during the surgery. They found that Tyler's liver and spleen were fused (possibly from the first surgery) and that there was scar tissue on the diaphragm (which was in question by some of Tyler's therapists as well as Amy and her family). They were able to separate the liver and spleen and I am not sure if they were able to remove all the scar tissue (I forgot to ask).

They expect him to be in the hospital for 5-7 days like planned and the next 24-48 hours will be critical due to the chance of bleeding from the liver/spleen separation among the many other things he had done.

Please keep Tyler and family in your hopes and prayers for a quick recovery and a flawless and smooth next 48 hours and I will keep everyone updated and send Amy and family your well wishes.

Oh I will. She seems to be taking everything very well, probably because this is already his 2nd stomach surgery and she is a veteran mom with 4 kids. I personally would be a wreck, but she is a very strong super mom =-) She is not sure she can have a lap top there, so I am sure she will be calling everyday with updates. Poor little man... A fundo, a g-tube, a hernia repair, a stomach repair, diaphragm scar tissue removal and liver/spleen separation is a WHOLE LOT of things to endure all at once!!

Yikes, I missed this until now. I am praying for them!!! Thanks for the updates!

I've been thinking about Tyler all day and just waiting for some kind of word on how things went.

Next time you talk to Amy make sure you give her and Tyler a big hug from me!!!! PLEASE let her know I'm thinking about them and they are in my prayers!
