Well today again was just plain weird. They "treated" dairy today. It worked out that Parker is allergic/intolerent to:
Milk Proteins (but not casein-strange cause this is the most popular)
The homogenisation process
Milk Enzymes

So we were out in 20 mins and in 24 hours Parker can eat dairy again (she suggested never a lot of cows milk, natrupaths don't beleive in a lot of cows milk cause it isn't tolerated well- or something to that effect, she did recommend goat though)

Well you can probably see my sarcasim here, they just say OK he is treated, introduce milk again in a day, it just can't be that easy if you KWIM?

I also asked about why Parker can have Goats milk and always been able to tolerate it (this has stumped me because everywhere I have read says if you have a dairy allergy, goats milk isn't a good substitue) this was her reasoning on todays diagnosis.

Our goats milk isn't homogenised, also when cows milk is homogenised an enzyme is released that would affect him. Also the proteins in goats milk are smaller and more digestible. Lactose levels in both are the same (lactose was treated last week) but goats milk again is more digestible. She also said that Parker isn't allergic to casein which is in both, so if someone is allergic to milk it is generally to the casein, so they will then react on goat milk also. At least I got that answer.

I still am very sceptical that Pakers allergies wil be cured, but I am believing more and more the testing and the accuracy of determining what substabce he is recting too. Next week is wheat!

This will be interesting to see if it works. :-)

She mentioned that goat's milk isn't homogenized--I wonder if Parker would do well on non-homogenized cow's milk? (I do understand that she said goat's milk has smaller proteins, but I just wonder how much the homogenization process affects the milk...?)

What exactly did they do to "treat" him?

Our goats milk (the one we buy) isn't homogenised, so I am supposing that non homogenised cows milk would work if it wasn't the proteins as well. I really need to read up on this. Like Bethany Parker has reacted to some cheese and not to others, and it is so frustrating cause it can take 2 days for a noticeable reaction.

By treating them they give the glass vials to Parker to hold (the ones he is reacting too) and puts this hand held macine that hits his back either side of the spine on pressure points, he always laughs so it must tickle- see what I mean by too simple?

My dh's aunt had this done to her several years ago. I have to admit, the whole family laughed at her, but she is much healthier now that she knows what to avoid! :-)

That's really interesting about the glass vials/hand held instrument. I wonder how they figured out how this could work? *runs off to do some research*

3000 year old ancient chinese medicine! I have heard of people who go to these people and avoid everything they are told of, I am not willing to do that (this is where I agree with the GI) if I stop all the foods that Parker will react too, he will have a weight problem again.

These people think that this one treatment will CURE him of the allergy forever- see the scepticism is back!

Eh, skepticism is normal. I mean, if you bought everything every medical professional has told you, you'd probably believe that Tums will cure GERD and that Parker should have magically outgrown his reflux by 12 months. *weary laugh*

I think it's great that you're trying different things to help Parker. Even if it doesn't "cure" him, at least you can say you tried! :-)

Thats how I see it Mary! I had to try it. One thing I have got out of this is the determination of the allergy/intolerence of that I feel that is true!

Too tru about the medical profession!

Ok, it is a tad strange. Are you going to attempt a challenge for him just to see? I wonder how it will work. What if it does not work, do they have a back up plan? It is unconventional and all but sometimes people do have success with it, and I hope Parker is one of them!

Let us know how it goes

I am not sure if I am going to test it Leigh, we have elimated milk quite successfully and he hasn't been deprived of anthing also, so I am hapy to just go with that. Once cleared of eggs and soy I will try them out though!

This is the strange thing, they are so sure that this is it, after this there will be no more problems, its like they are just so certain they have no back up plan, the only thing that may happen is a 1 in 10 chance of it not taking and re-doing it next week.

Once cleared of all foods they have told me I will be able to go to the Dr and be taken off the reflux meds! Well time will tell.
