Does anyone use pllaytex nursers with the drop ins? My son, 4 1/2 months, has been able to use nothing but Dr. Brown's the first 4 months, but now he is eating so much better and I want to try to switch him to an easier to clean bottle. I really like the playtex nurser with the drop ins, it is very easy and he eats really well out of them on the fast nipple. My problem is this, I usually mix 7- 8 oz's of formula at a time for him, and these bottles will only hold like 6 oz's of mixed formula. The box says it's an 8 oz bottle, but it will not hold 8 oz of water alone, so I didn't even try to add the formula powder. Any tips? I even tried mixing it in a different bottle, but I had 3 oz's left over when I filled it up. I don't want to have to hold a feeding to refill the bottle. Thanks.

I've never used the Playtex drop ins. However, we ended up using the Playtex Ventair and they worked really well for us.... after buying every other bottle on the market. The bottles hold 8oz + a bit of room.

Back when I used Playtex Nursers for Cady, I'd mix up about 24 ozs. of formula in a covered pitcher, then just pour it into the nurser. I hated trying to mix per bottle. I also found that generic liners from Wal-mart have more room in them than the name brand ones. They're cheaper and easier to mix with if you have to mix each bottle individually.

The old fashioned liners by Playtex (rather than the drop ins) do fit more than 8 oz...they are just a little bit of a pain to work with. With the drop ins, I can get almost 8 oz in if I use the ready to feed 8 oz cans and pour it in all the way to the top. It only leaves a small amount.

We use the Playtex Nursers, but Jackson has never taken anywhere near 8 oz at once so we have never had that problem ;).

We end up using Avent bottles usually and have had good luck with them.

Sorry I really didn't even probably help you at all.......

The drop in's do take 8 oz...if you fill it completely to the rim. I measured it in a measuring cup first and poured it in. You just can't mix it in the bottle is all.

We were using Dr.B's for the first 2 months and the Ginette recemmendedme to try these with Mason. We use it with the latex nipple and it made a HUGE difference in his reflux pain (which in his case we think wsa caused by really excessive amounts of air due to the way he swallowed). I think it's the combination of the larger nipple and the latex. Whatever it was, he refuses to take any other bottles now.
