Hi ladies
If you are giving these to your ds/dd...can u explain why and what the benefits have been..are they only for kids having issues with diahrrea..system moving too fast??
Zach is still my little medical mystery....happy as pie one day and cranky as nuts the next
I've tried a food dairy and a dairy/soy/wheat free diet, and I'm still clueless
He is on 37.5mg prevacid
The only testing he's had so far was an upper GI at 5mnths which showed severe reflux but no structural abnormalities
He has always battled constipation (I thought due mostly to prevacid/poor eating) and is on mirilax
I wonder if he MIGHT have IBS (don't know much about it) or a sensitive system etc and was wondering if trying probiotics might be worth a shot
We see a new GI in June and am wondering if testing may be our next option
His weight has been very good for the last year and recent blood work was good
We thought seasonal allergies might be a major problem for him and he is now on 3 diff meds....causing more constipation issues
Also since trying him on yogurt cheese his poop is often a mix of VERY soft and dry formed small balls
Thanks for any insight

Some people use them if their child is frequently Ill as it helps build their natural immune defense in protecting them against illnesses.
I just started Andrew four days ago, and my reasoning for it was because of Chronic Bowel Issues that no one can seem to figure out. His poop is always green no matter what he eats or drinks, and has been like that since he was born. He also goes 4-7 times a day, that is very toxic, sticky, pasty, sometimes extreme watery. I believed that his bowel issues is also what has kept him in the FTT category as he is constantly either pooping or puking.
Yesterday was the first time in almost two years that he dropped a log...instead of Diahrrea, although today it is back to the yuckies, so I don't think they are fully effecting him yet. Most kids with IBS go back and forth between Diahrrea/constipation, have you talked to the ped about this?
I took the advice of everyone here as I felt Andrew would benefit from this as well as us...in regard to cleaning it up, wipes and diapers:( His first GI and Ped knew nothing about them and his new GI was all for me giving these to ANdrew as he felt this would help him too.
I hope I answered most of your Questions Kim...if I can help you anymore let me know?
I do know that they have soy free dairy free ones...Amanda has those for her daughter Emma...I am sure she will give you insight also as she was a tremendous help to me in regard to them!

Hi
Thanks Stacy....
Just say your 'log' post...that is what prompted my post (yeah for Andrew!)
Zach's poop has always been DRY but not really green/stinky etc
So, once again...I don't know!
We've also been very lucky with him only having 2 EI's his entire life
We've lucked out in that area...but I don't have older kids in school and zach and Ava are home with me
We think he's had several SI's though.....but we are not sure
Thanks for the info
We just had his 2.5yr check up with the ped...darn
I was annoyed because Zach was happy as pie because DH was entertaining him and the ped kept saying 'how healthy he was..perfect weight etc'
He never was FTT (went down to 8th percentile)
BUT I think that was because I was home with him trying every trick in the book to get him to eat
Thanks again
Mirra

Probiotics are basically good bacteria. A lot of times babies don't always get this. Especially if born c-section in a sterile environment. You can't have too much of the bacteria (or Flora). They regulate the digestive system and balance it. Think of it as a vitamin. It doesn't hurt to use them. If baby doesn't need them, it won't hurt anything, you just won't see a change. But they can make all the difference in the world for a baby who needs em. I'd recommend buy a month supply (30 pills) and see if there is a difference. If you see one then give it for 1 more month.

We have seen a big improvement since using probiotics. cooper my eldest was told to have them after getting a burst ear drum and see if it helps with ear infections, he was put as a tubes candidate, and he hasn't had an ear infection since (about 2 years)
Parker I started in January and I have seen a lot of improvements in his BM's, also con-incidence or not, he hasn't had an ear infection (after having like 5 months worth before this) since.
I have had to take him off them for a couple of weeks as they contain dairy and I am doing the dairy free at the moment.
