:smt105 Am thinking about switching Linda-Marie back to regular formula, she is on Neosure, a higher calorie formula. Her doc put her on it to see if she would gain more weight which she hasn't . I mean, she is gaining, just at the same rate as she was on the regular formula (Similac Advance). Only thing I can figure is she has a fast metabolism. Anyway, the Neosure is $14 for a small can and we have to buy up to 4 at a time for our house and my sister-in-laws house. Keep asking her doc and he says he wants her to stay on it, but why? shes not packing on tons of weight on it. So, should we just tell him out right that because of the expense, we are going back to the other formula or should we just suck it up and stick with this?? thanks

Is she not gaining at all with it? It might be giving her more than you realize and without it she might not hold her weight but on the other hand if you don't think that is the case then talk to your doc about your financial concerns and see if you can get some samples or what else he suggests that might be cheaper.

Was she put on it for weight??

If she has no allergies or anything you could always switch back and see if it makes a difference...

Or call the manufacturer of the other one and see if they offer any assistance!

Yes, she was put on it because of her low weight and she is gaining on it, just not any more than she was on the regular formula. Her doc did give us a couple of free cans. It wasn't so bad when I had coupons from Similac, had $5 checks that were very helpful but I've run out. I mean, I'm glad she has a doctor that is concerned for her health but it seems like doctors don't take into consideration that some babies may just be naturally thinner than others. I was very long and very thin as a baby, she could just be taking after me. Oh, how I wish I was rich instead of beautiful!!

Hi

How long has she been on the new formula?
If it has been at least 1-2mnths.....it can take some time when switching formulas for the baby to start really sucking the new stuff down...then I would switch back
If her weight gain is the same.....why pay more for another formula?
Did you use RTF similiac or powder?
Maybe they could give you a recipe for a higher cal mix....
IF she starts doing worse on the similac you could always go back to the neo

Good Luck

shes been on it for at least 2 months, might be longer. I know her doc wants whats best for her, but this momma is not made out of money!!! He did re-calculate so its a bit higher in calories then it would normally be but shes still skinny, maybe we have a future super model?
