Monday we went out to eat at a new furs buffet. Izaviaha had just eaten before we got there so I thought he was not going to be hungry. He shure thought he was He wanted to try everything. But when it came to mashed potatos he wanted nothing to do with them. At first try he made an ugly face. Second try he gaged. So we sampled something elce and tryed again ugly face and gaging. However at home one of his favorite foods is sweet potatos. Whats the diference?
When older brother Jadce was first introduced to mashed potatos same reaction. Once dad gave him some for dinner Jadce said I dont like that. Dad tryed to make him eat it he almost puked. To this day will not even try them if they are covered in cheese or told him it was ice cream.
So is there a conection?
Or are my boys just allergic to them?:pukerigh:
(not really but you know what I mean)

Sweet potatoes are sweeter so they like them more, mashed potatoes are bland and grainy, my kids don't like the texture (pureed but thick)

Exactly, Rachel. The sweetness versus the texture. To this day, Evan will not eat eggs no matter how they're done b/c of the texture, and it's a rare day when he'll eat anyting made from potatoes. They just cause him to gag.

Sam will eat potoatos of all sorts. One of his favorite breakfasts is one egg, one potato patty, and one sausage link!! This is by far his fave!! He will eat potatos mashed (with or without gravy), garlic mashed, fried, hashbrowns, potato pancakes, and cooked/cubed. I think this is all that we have tried. Today I mashed Sam up some sweet potatos and he wanted nothing to do with them. I don't think that there is a connection between ger and potatos.

No, probably not, but there is a connection between certain textures and sensory issues.

Peeeeas No! Peas are a do not add to the winners list for us. I thought he was going to barf all over daddy. It was so sweet daddy was trying so hard to convince him they were good. Because they are his favorite. If mixed with something elce he will take them but not alone. On the winners list we have pears, applesauce, bannas, prunes, sweet patatos and, squash. We have yet to try carrots and green beans.

First of all... you still have Furr's??? My hubbie would be so jealous! Though, he can't handle the texture of a lot of things, mostly veggies - and he is adult!
