Reflux mums you really need to read this,

OK well this appointment was just weird, I really don't know what I am feeling at the moment, I suppose a bit cautious and also hopeful.

Let me start off by saying that what I am saying next is the opinion of the person who treated Parker today, not me, I am not too sure what to believe yet.

Well we started off with history, and then I had to lay down with Parker on top of me sitting and I had to put my hand on his back to get a flow through him, then I put my arm in the air and she would put different vials of allergens in Parkers hand and test his resistance through my arm.

It was so strange, generally I could hold resistance with her well, and then when a bad allergen was put in his hands she would try and it was like my arm was giving way. Apparently muscles react to the allergen and go weak when they are touching it.

She did heaps of vials and this was the conclusion. There are lots of categories of allergens (ie dairy, wheat, egg) and in those categories are sub categories. Today we worked out the Categories Parker has some allergy to.

This is what it came up as:
eggs, dairy, grain/wheat, soy, grass, dust and also sugar mix. (sugar is really the only surprise there as I had worked that all out)

Then what they do is pick one category and each session will test that category, she said we should do sugar first. So more vials and it was concluded that he was allergic/intolerent to lactose and cane sugar.

Here is the strange part, she can treat this allergen in one session so as it will not harm him anymore and he can eat it again. This was done by Parker holding the vial while she did this thing to his spine, it was like constant hammering, she said this is where the accupuncture points are it aligns them so they are no longer a problem???? Parker thught it was great and laughed the whole time. She retested, did it again and retested and this time, my arm didn't resist to it.

More strange, she was able to test stomach acids??? and Parker came back normal and she said that means his reflux comes purely from his food intolerences, and once we are finished I should see the Dr and talk about coming off the meds????

She went on to say that most babies as they grow, get better with food intolerences and thats why a lot of reflux cases, they grow out of it. In my case she beleives that Parker had food intolerences, when I breastfed I wasn't aware so they passed into him and thus creating his reflux.

It would actually make sense as to why with the pH study Parker generally only refluxes when eating.

So as you can see this sounds really good, but I am sceptical but also at this stage willing to do it, cause it isn't invasive and we are looking at a lifetime of meds, if he doesn't "outgrow it" in 4 months.

Any questions or suggestions, let me know.

Wow Rach, wish that I could have been a fly on the wall. That sounds like an interesting appt. Very.
I may have to look into that here. I don't know if we would have anyone like that here, yet, I would travel to see one if it was going to help his reflux.
Wow.
Interesting that the food intolerances cause his reflux.
I'm kind of speechless, LOL.
Did she "treat" the other intolerances he has???
When do you go back.

http://www.aaeclinics.com.au/flash/

There is the website there is one in Denver - don't know how close that st. We go every week, and within 5 weeks it should be finished at most 10 (sometimes-10% of the time, it takes 2 treatments per allergen)

Who know I am willing to try. Wil let you know how it goes each week.

Kim it was $90.00 (I converted it to $US) Follow ups are $65.00, I don't know how much things cost there, but I pay double that to see my GI, if that puts it in any perspective. Like I said I will try it and see. I will update you all with it.

After asking 3 drs for an allergist refferral, I was at my sleep Dr today (who also does respiratory medicine) and she took one look at him and said he has allergies, you need to see an allergist- I didn't even ask, she gave me the refferral. Why now does a dr take me seriously- after going through this!

Very intriguing, Rachel! I'm in Denver so I'm gonna look in to this...might be a good option for my Mom who can hardly eat anything with all of her allergies!

Keep us posted on Parker's progress! :)

A kineseologist doing the allergy tests? I've heard of chiros. doing them, but never a kineseologist. Interesting! It's amazing the different "not so conventional" ways that allergies can be tested. My allergies were first tested that way, and the pin scratching test had very similar results.

Weird huh? I know cause I could feel it when he was reacting cause it was my hand not being able to be strong. Good to know that it is on the right track, even if it doesn't "cure" (can you see I am sceptical-LOL) at least I have an indication.
