Just curious as to how many of our GERDlings have hypotonia.

Zoee had hypotonia. We had Ot and pT for her and she was ok by the time she was 7 months.

We never actually got that diagnosis, but D was considered to have "low normal muscle tone."

It was suspected with Iain but never confirmed. I rather thought his floppiness came from lack of energy and being so underweight.

Catherine has always been freakishly strong, which is also characteristic of GERDlings. All that retching really develops the upper body muscles!

You know that makes sense for Curran. He was my champion puker and frighteningly strong at an early age. I thought his little body could benchpress weights. I had never thought of it in that way Lesley.

Walker was floppy for a time but really became very strong too, but not like Curran who was running around the house at the age of 9 months...

By hypotonia, you mean low muscle tone, right? If so, I'll be voting a definite YES.

Maya has also always had the strongest back, sitting up unaided at 4 months. I guess its from all that retching and back arching!

Evan has a strong back from all of the retching, arching and vomiting too, but is still low muscle tone in much of his body, including the mouth area.

Andrew too has always been very strong!

No low muscle tone here...all that puking has built him like Mr. T:)

Same as the other puking GERDlings...no hypotonia in Emma. She's pretty strong. She tries to carry her hippo walking/push toy around!

James was diagnosed with hypotonia at nine months. It is still a problem at 13 months and his OT and speech therapist continue to work with him. His is mostly in his face now, but he was quite floppy all over for a while.

It looks like Evan will continue to be the anomaly once again, as he has never followed the 'norms' (if there is such a thing) of GERD. My puking GERDling is definitely low muscle tone.

I'm sorry, Janette. :( I didn't mean to make it sound like Evan was out of the "norm" for a puking GERDling. I hope you didn't take it that way.

Oh gosh no, Amanda! I didn't take it that way at all. Evan has always been out of the norm for a refluxer around here, from the day I joined. He just doesn't fit the unwritten rules, I guess. At least he's not way off the norm anymore with all of the new members. I've been seeing a lot of similarities over the past year.

Whew! Thanks, Janette. I was hoping you didn't take it the wrong way.

**letting out huge sigh of relief**

Eric is a super strong boy. His muscles are unreal.
Wierd,
but he has always been this way.
When he gets immunizations they always comment on how strong he is.

Jackson has always and still is very, very strong. Very unlike the girls were at his age.

Sam was diagnosed as hypotonic at around 4 months and we saw a neurologist for it. We started to do PT, OT and ST at home for a long time. It started out with each 1x a week it has gradually slowed as he has hit most of his milestones now. We now are done with OT, we see PT once every 3 months and ST once a month as he is still very much lacking in feeding and speech. We are done with the neurologist now too, WHEW - I was tired of going to see her.

The daycare Sam goes to moves children up by age usually, but had to keep Sam in the infants room until after his first birthday as he was just starting to scoot around by then. He is now caught up with his buddies from the infant room that got moved when they were around 9 months old.

Definatly yes to this one!
