I have noticed that when Jayden starts to eat it's a relativley normal pace but as he eats the more uncomfortable he gets and the faster he wants to eat.
Then by the end of eating he is usually crying.
Do you think this would be comfort feeding and getting to full?
Or......do you think it's just painfull in general for him to eat. he loves to eat, he says mmmm... at each bite even when he's getting ready to cry it's really kinda sad.

Perhaps he is too hungry at that point to wait for the solids to hit? Joshua does this from time to time still. I really have to stagger his bottles and solids right to get past it. Next time he does that, you might try giving him a few oz's and see what he does. Then, try to resume solids, if he is calmed down a bit.

Sometimes Eric does this. It's weird.
Like one day he'll cram things in like that (starting the meal more normal like you said), and then the next day he plays with the food and throws it, and eats slower.
Either way he's not really eating much just sometimes he eats faster than others.

Usually when he's been cramming we are in for bad sleep and worse breathing.

When he crams I hate it because he looks so uncomfortable. To me it's almost like he's saying "Lets hurry up and get this over with!"
Almost like he's experimenting with different ways to eat faster. When he first tries a food he moves it around his mouth, he even chews and everything, but the next time he has a bite of it he gets it down faster. Till eventually he's mastered how to swallow it whole. He knows how to swallow everything whole now. LOL

But really I think it's a way that they experiment. I think even non refluxers do this too, but the difference is they stop the bad stuff (cuz it doesn't feel good) and keep the good ways of eating.

It's called LEARNING from your mistakes ERIC!!!! LOL

I'm not sure on this, but all the docs before Eric's current one convinced me it was a "normal" process, so that leads me to believe that it can be typical toddler behavior and not just a gerdy thing.
I guess what you really need to watch for is always swallowing whole, sneezing while or after eating, coughing and/or choking while or after eating, grimacing or showing signs of pain when swallowing, congestion after eating.
At least this is what I was told. Eric does it all.

Hopefully Jayden
is just experimenting and he stops the cramming soon.

Oh crap I just realized
That I'm talking about Jayden who is only 6 months old!! LOL
Pace him.
I know it's tempting to keep putting it there as fast as he'll take it ( I did this), but don't. Pace it out. You don't want Jayden to aspirate on his food, and that's what can happen if they aren't swallowing correctly. Since he's still new at this he needs to take time with each bite to get a correct swallow going.

Eating should never be attached to crying, discomfort, or any negatives at all. Try to keep him as comfortable as you can. Keep eating as positive of an experience as you can ( I know easier said than done :( )
