I give Noah a ricecake everynight when we're eating supper, and I break it up on the blue, detachable, dishwasher-safe tray so that I can put it in the dishwasher (obviously,). Anyways, he has figured out that he can reach to the top of the tray and pop it off, and then he chucks it onto the floor, or worse, onto the dining room table (where our food and drinks are ). Any solution to this problem, or should I just start using the base tray instead?

Andrew figured that out awhile ago!!!!

I just started taking it off and using the base tray....that was the only solution, although since then, it doesn't matter...I still have a mess! His new thing is to chuck his food all over the floor when he is done:)

Honestly? Zac figured that out a couple months ago and I have had to stop using it. :dontknow: IF you find a better solution (other than super glue LOL) let me know ;)

Same here with Owen, I had to take it off since he would throw it on the floor, try to get the cat or on our table. If you find something that works for you let me know.

That new Clorox Sanitizing Spray says that it is safe for high chairs...so maybe use that after? Might save you some cleaning work.

Aren't these kids clever? The manufacturers make all these gadgets that the parents love and the kids don't! lol

I use that new spray on EVERYTHING including highchair tray LOL. FLoors, too...well the tile ones ;)

Looks like this is a common problem, LOL. We *should* be emailing FP about this one! I use the spray on lots of things, also, but there's something about putting the tray in the dishwasher that seems nice and clean!

Sounds like we need to come up w/an invention ;)

I would suggest you use the base tray along with plates and bowls that suction to the tray..they are great. That doesn't do much for the food that ends up on the floor. They do make mats for under high chairs or get a dog..LOL

Same problem here.. but ours isn't the FP chair. Lauren figured hers out months ago too...

Sometimes I take the tray off and give her a plate of food on the regular tray.. and them she throws the plate on the floor.. STUPID mommy!! LOL

The invention would be two plastic straps on the sides that attach to the regular tray underneath.

same problem here and it drives me crazy so I just take the tray off.

Although we have a regular highchair and a fp traveling booster highchair it straps on to a chair and I actually put the big highchair away I love the little one. I can actually fit both the top trap and actual tray in the dishwasher. I LOVE it and it was only like 30 bucks.

We actually never even bought a high chair. We use a traveling booster here aswell. It has an insert tray just like the FP highchair. It straps to any chair just as Meagan said. I think it was like 20 bucks. It also reclines so we used it since he was 4 months old. It pushes right up to the dinner table and he can use w/or w/out the tray and still fit under the table to be pushed in.
