I am starting to stop all dairy from my diet to see if Scarlett has a cow milk's protein intolerance like the breastfeeding consultation thinks she may have. I have never done this before with Hobbes or Zoee so how do I do this? Do I stop now this minute or do I start tomorrow morning? When should I also see a differences?

Thanks

I would stop right away. It can take up to 4 weeks for all the milk proteines to leave your body and until you see a difference. Watch out for any hidden proteins as well, like whey, casein and things like that. Good luck, I have been doing it for a while now and Owen's reflux is so much better.

Sorry I am TERRIBLY late here but just wondering if it made any difference??

I started first by eliminating the basic milk, cheese, yogurt, etc and it didn't help much at all. When I eliminated ALL dairy is when we saw a huge difference. He was a puker (20 times a day at least) and now we are down at a few or sometimes more. I didn't do this until he was like 7 months old and I wish someone would have told me this could be part of our problem earlier.

I have seen abit of a difference but not really sure if itis milk protein intorlance b/c I have still used a little bit of milk like a tablespoon if that in my tea. Plus las tnight, she had about an 11/2 ozs of a bottle of formula and she didn't throw up like she did Friday. So I am not sure.

I had to eliminate dairy (and soy) and, like Meagan, didn't notice much of a difference until I took out every last little trace of them from my diet.

However, I'm at a loss if she did well with the formula...?

I did done research where if I read it right, they said you could see the difference after a couple of days it did just depend on how much dairy you have had. I didn't eat much dairy b/c I am lactuse intolerance myself. The only time I can have dairy and not suffer is if itis yogurt or when i am pregnant and that is from only the 7months on. Zoee did have 11/2 oz of foruma last night but I guess I should have said she didn't throw it up but she was gassy this morning and has had of the throwing up and swallowing it back today since I posted . I didn't know if itis milk protein . I will be talking to the :evil:ped about all of this tomorrow. Very confusing!

I agree food allergies/intolerances are confusing!! Do you watch the dairy that is in like bread and other things that are already made.

I hope your pedi has some answers for you tomorrow. Once I did take out every trace I saw a huge improvement. Sorry I am of no help!
Let us know what the pedi says tomorrow.

Meagan, thank you! I was feeling abit guilt about not doing agood job on the elimating dairy out of diet but i have stop to think about your question and besides the tablespoon of milk in my tea, I have had no other dairy food.I did check my bread and there is no diary in it. I only eat 100% whole wheat. And yesterday I did have pizza that did have abit of cheese on it so maybe that is why she is fussier today. Thank you , I wil update on how her appointment was.
