6 freakin' hours later. She had a bottle finally a little while ago, and promptly spitup about 5 minutes later, it was all green and yellowish....pure peas. UGH! She has also been fussy and crying since around 3. I don't know if it is from the food, or what. All I know, if she is still puking peas after 6 hours, I'm not feeding her anymore until we try this other med. She has spit up two more times and still peas. CRAP!!!! I feel so bad for her because she really wants to eat, and enjoys it. I am afraid, though, that if we don't get her straightened out better before we start solids, that she will have the same associations with solids as she does the bottle and it will become a battle instead of fun. So no more food for my kidlet, for now. I just won't eat in front of her anymore and stuff. Poor kid!

Ahhhhhhh. I did not want to see this post, Melissa! She was supposed to keep those peas down! You are very right about avoiding negative associations. I was giving Noah 1 jar of this organic jarred oatmeal for a month, and I didn't realize that THAT was what was causing his problems. He eventually shut down on ALL solids, and wouldn't let a spoon near his mouth. After we quit feeding it to him for several weeks, he got over it, but I just wanted to let you know that you are 100% right about stopping the solids until the experience can be more pleasant for her--which I hope is very, very soon!

I Just wanted to add a shed of light (perhaps). Zac was spitting up breakfast after lunchtime even close to dinner at times. He spit up ALL day the first three months or so on solids. Now...he NEVER spits up and has been that way for about 4 months. So...maybe, just maybe it will pass.

Abby never spit up solids, only her formula, so this all new to me guys. She is still young, so waiting won't be a problem. Hopefully this is a "growing out of it" thing. I know she has emptying issues, so hopefully the new med will help some. It is not so much the spitting up, but that she seems so uncomfortable. She has been such a happy baby lately, so this crying all evening is not normal. I HATE ths!

Don't get too worried too fast...Cameron was doing the same thing 2 weeks ago when we really started solid foods...I was wondering why her spit up had an orange tint to it and then realized that I gave her sweet potatos 6 hours earlier...She doesn't do it anymore...it may just take her time to adjust to solids esp new types....Just take a break for a few days and give her something that you know she can tollerate...cereal or whatever....Can she tollerate anything? I tried to find your posts about her eating habits but just skimmed through and nothing stuck out.

I noticed Maggie talking about negative associations...so true with babies...they don't know anything but happy and sad right now. Is she closing her mouth when you feed her?

Cameron went through a few crying spells since solids too...we stay clear away from pears and carrots...biddy biddy biddy that's all folks! I know our babies are getting a bit bigger and older now (isn't it fun) but I still swaddle her when she's inconsolable...it's works for unfortunately at the last hour when I'm at my wits end and I think she's going to pop a hernia but works besides.

She can't tolerate cereals at all. Rice is an actual allergy for her, oatmeal makes her scream for hours. She has just been crying way more than usual tonight. Her spit up doesn't just have a green tint to it...it is all out the same texture it was when it went in. I am not too worried, just going to wait until we get this new med on board. The erythro. has been working some, but she still has a big delay even with it. She refuses bottles at times and when she does take a bottle, she only eats a couple of oz. at a time...usually. I am just going to wait, at least until the GI calls with the official results of her tests and a plan. They had originally told me to wait until they scope. The GI that did the scope was just another one in the practice, not her regular one. So when he gave us the go ahead to give her solids again, I wasn't thinking that he probably doesn't have all of her history. I figure another month isn't going to hurt her to wait.

I'm so sorry she puked up her peas.
That sucks.
But at least you made a decision. I always feel better when I have a game plan.
Hope she sleeps well tonight for you.

Jayden pukes his foods hours later too, i thought it was "normal" for refluxers???It's so wierd what one kid can tollerate another can't. Jayden does fine with pears & squash...peaches and carrots not so good..oatmeal cereal makes him scream...what do you do about delayed empting??

Oatmeal makes Em scream too. We have only tried rice (hives and projectile vomiting), oatmeal (screams all day about an hour after eating it), applesauce(she was fussy and spit up A LOT, but this was the least offensive) peas (she cried all evening and spit up undigested pease 6 hours later and didn't sleep well at all). Now, she LOVED all of these. So I am afraid to feed her anymore until she gets a better med for the emptying so that she doesn't stop enjoying the food. As for what they do for emptying, there are meds and surgery. I think there are different causes for DGE too, so treatment depends on the cause.

Sarah has DGE and she used to eat some solids but I think they worsened her reflux due to the delayed emptying and now she completely refuses all solids ( except the gerber veggies puffs). SO I think with DGE solids can definitely make things worse. I never created a battle over solids and never forced her to eat them she just decided on her own to completely stop. I think she realized that they were causing her discomfort and her OT said that refluxing solids is probably more uncomfortable than refluxing milk.

Poor Em. Owen was spitting up solids at dinnertime that he had eaten for breakfast when he was younger. He was fussy on most of the foods as well, so we just left out the things he couldn't tolerate which left us at practically nothing. I would wait until she starts the new meds and than give it a try again.
Is she constipated at all? That can sometimes make it worse with the spitting up solids hours after eating it as well.

No, she isn't constipated. She usually has runny ones, because we use thick it. Today, they were a little more formed, I assume because of what peas she kept down. It was actually a welcome change, lol. Today was a rough day too. She puked all day long. She is normally not a spitter, so I don't get it. It was milk and mucus. UGH! I mean she would have a bottle. Spit up a couple of tbs. right away, then spit up like 10 or 15 little times like until the next bottle...all still milk and mucusy. I don't know what to make of her.
