So now that Connor is feeling better I am once again trying to start solids back up. I gave him some applesauce today and he was really irritable. Same thing happens with Pears. He seems to do ok (minus hating the taste) on some veggies. So far squash and I'm pretty sure sweet potatoes. My question is do any of your kiddos have problems with fruit? I'm wondering what could be in it that's making him uncomfortable.

We have had good luck w/fruit, so far.
I wonder if it is because it is so acidic that it bothers him.
Have you tried Peaches? **I'm sure that you have**
Bananas? Mango,
The only fruit, I just remembered, Jackson turned up his nose was "Apple/Strawberry" and he did his shiver thing w/it. Weird, I think that it had to be the strawberry because he eats applesauce every day.
Do the fruit/vege. blends by Gerber bother him?
Sorry, I seem to be of no help! LOL

Tara doesnt have a real problem with them, she just hates them. I try and give her any type (pears, applesauce, bananas, etc) and she just spits them right back at me. She does great on all other veggies just can't seem to get her to take fruits. I know that doesn't help you any, just thought that I would share that.

Joshua had a problem with Apples at first...too acidic I think I heard. He's been okay with them lately.

Still hates veggies but I mix them in with the fruit - sneaky Mommy!

I'm envious!! My son is the opposite!

just hold off a little longer with the light colored foods....Cameron still only likes the orange kind and tollerated applesauce once...Since we're both starting back up again and searching through all this...lets mirror each other by doing sweet potatos for 3 days 2x per day then squash....they like the same foods...which aren't too many but i think maybe we've got to train their belly's with what they can tollerate first then go to the next one on the list. Or so I've LEARNED RECENTLY Think about it...if we'd never had food before and you give us refried beans, our butt would fall off! Fruit is kind of tart...i think pears ore last on the list...no green beans are,,,,lol refried beans.

LOL Ginette!!! I was actually thinking of trying sweet potatoes next. I may hold off today. He's having a bad day. He woke up screaming at 11:00 last night and I couldn't get him to stop for an hour. Then today he's screamed all morning. Don't know if it's from the applesauce or what. What stinks is that he loves fruit. I could get him to eat a whole jar where as with veggies he gags. SIGH!

Kim - Are you using a Mylanta or Maalox? I took Emily's advice and use Maalox for the "breakthrough" reflux and it puts her right to sleep when her tummy hurts. 2ml. The first dose gave her a ittle diarrhea, but not it's not affecting her so bad..not bad at all actually. She used to have cronic constipation and now I think that the Maalox has made her regular. For the past week anyway...I'm not giving it to her as routine..it just so happened that she's been real fussy at night time and when it takes her 30 minutes to 3 hours of up and down to sleep. I know her belly hurts and I give her 2ml. Out like a light. I may switch to mylanta soon because someone said that it doesn't contain aluminum which ? has got to be bad I guess. Ask me what's in Prevacid. lol No clue. Plus most mom's on here use Mylanta. ? By the way - I just ot back from the grocery store and I bought their inventory of "Earth's Best Organics" 8 jars of each kind. I'm going to do swet potato's for 3 days, then apple sauce etc....if she get's too much of a tummy ache I'll switch back to sweet potatos for a day then try another. Her meds are working wonderfully now and I'm sure it will stay that way...1st time not on an unsteady underdosed compound...love solutabs! She loves the taste too.

Maybe it's a little soon after him eing so unwell or maybe the fruits are a little acidic for him. :dontknow: It's always so hard to try and figure out. We did okay with apples and pears but peaches didn't go so well. I also had to stay away from pumpkin in the early days. Sweet potatoes went okay and carrots.....
Good luck with re-starting solids again.

Perfect! I give her sweet potatos today and she's all grunty, whiney and drawing her legs up real quick like it's all of a sudden sharp pain over and over....I had to walk her to sleep in the baby carrier...way before her nap was due. Whatever...I'm not stressing over anything anymore. I going to try not to come on here so often...I've gotten really good advice and a lot of good remedies So I'm going to try to stay off for a bit...the weather's good and I need a friggin tan....I think all those pool side pics from Sara and Kim got me wanting some! lol Yeah...this place is addicting...too much too fast too hard to keep up...it's like crack...we'll see if I'm strong enough.... lol

I hope you'll still check in once in a while:D We'd miss ya!!! I hear you though. I'm trying to make myself only spend an hour a night on here and then make some time for DH. I've been neglecting him lately.
